the hotkey has always been windows key plus the letter U.

The key combination is the same in XP thru Windows 7, only the name of the
utility has changed, as follows:
Windows XP, Windows key + the letter U, opens the Utility Manager.
Alt +the letter N, starts Narrator.

I moved quite a lot of files and folders from my pc, to a memory stick when I

It does work for several people, but not for all. You need to make sure to
check the protected setup box when doing the installation.

insert the memory stick into a USB port. now you need to open windows
explorer with a windows key+e and determine what drive letter the stick is
assigned. press the enter key on that drive to open that drive. you should
now find the files.
