just to let you all know mouse echo is nothing new. NVDA has had very good mouse echo for the past 6 years or so now. Jaws is pretty much just now copying what NVDA has already done. Making jaws run faster and restricting virtual cursor to dialogs on websites is good though and I may use that

Ed, I was hoping someone else would answer because I haven't used WMP in a while. As I recall, the alt key brings up a file menu, and you can navigate through that menu for the controls you seek. I don't believe rewind is an option. It may depend on which version of WMP you have on your system.

Hi Kevin, have you tried Recuva by Piriform? It's a small easy to use program that's suppose to help to recover files from damaged drives. I have used it in the past with success, but I haven't in awhile. Here is a link to download it.

Are you saying that your drive was automatically formatted? That doesn't normally happen, as it is a setting that can be chosen or not. The switch for write protection is very hard to find actually. It is in one of the cut-outs on the drive and can usually be found and slid with fingernails,
