Hi all,
A friend is using jaws 18 and wants to know if any has used it?
Or if it's accessible.
The company will be switching to this new platform.
Any ideas?

Hello Miriam
I'm not saying it's been 'dropped', rather it is no longer supported
which at the moment probably means IE 11 still works most of the time,
but in the very near future, my opinion is that it will become less
stable across the internet as web page devs stop maintaining code
Up until last week, I was using IE10 and various websites were scolding me
for doing so. I'm using IE11 and now all of the websites have stopped
scolding me so I don't think that IE11 has been dropped by Microsoft yet.

Yes, Microsoft have shifted their browser development efforts to Edge.
Internet Explorer does not meet current Web standards, which Web application
developers will increasingly rely on. The result is that everyone who wants to
use any kind of complex Web application (and there will be more of them
microsoft retired IE 11 and is going with it's new browser Edge!

Yes, and there is a blind audible list. I think it is at yahoo. I no longer
have the subscription information but I think it just requires an email to
subscribe.

Basically, what he's trying to say in a very subtle way is that you should
use Firefox and not Internet Explorer.
I don't understand why, as Internet Explorer is very usable and secure, and
only dangerous activity will net you trouble, especially if you've got an
anti-virus and malware

I have personally found IE 11 to be very unstable and unreliable.

Could you please explaine this so it is more clear because I do not

Hi, Norma. I can think of two ways of answering your question. If you want to
stop someone from tampering with your document, that's one thing. However, it's
always possible for someone to copy the text and paste it into a separate file
once they have access to that text.

Hi group,
I'm using MS Word 2010. I realize how easy it is to disable protected view

written and need to send to someone else to "read only"?
Thanks,

It is also in the file menu so you don't have to manually find it with the
Jaws cursor.
Alt + F then i then E.
If your office is like mine though the focus shifts and this doesn't work as
it should so I have to press Alt + F then tab 3 or 4 times to get to the
button.

You do not need to uninstall the previous JAWS version first. Multiple
versions of JAWS can coexist on the same system. In fact, you won't want to
because JAWS 18 has reintroduced the merge utility, even though that didn't
work for me.

It is never required to remove the previous version of JAWS before
installing a newer version. The reason is they always install in to their
own directories for major versions.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Media Player Advice
To All who have so graciously provided advice
I find it helpful to maintain the two most recent JAWS versions on my
system, the older one as a back up. As such, I would keep J17 and
install J18 "over" it. If you maintain J17 at least until you install
J18 your J17 settings will be preserved if you so elect.
On 11/9/2016 11:15 AM,
Regarding the installation of JAWS 18, do I need to uninstall JAWS 17 first, or
can I just insert the disk and install it over the current version? Thanks.
Jerry

To All who have so graciously provided advice on my Windows Media Player
issues; thanks. But a friend of mine that works at the Houston Lighthouse
suggested a program called VLC Media Player. I downloaded it, installed it, and
it works great with JAWS 17, and the menus are pretty simple. So,
I have Quicken Starter Edition 2009. It is an older version (obviously), but
it works pretty well with JAWS 17.
