A new problem after much success. I've located the file normal.dotm, edited and
saved it. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and haven't figured out how to undo
it. I'll make this as brief as I can.
First, several of you gave excellent instructions for locating the file. For
me, the fastest was
Well, the obvious solution to my new problem was to remove all page numbers and
uncheck suppression, then start over. I just did that, and I think JAWS may
actually be reporting the page number info to me, even though ambiguously.
Thanks again, all of you who contributed. Why did MS make

Hi Miriam,
It depends on how you install the updates. I believe if you just click on
the install update when Jaws pops that up on your screen it will not get rid
of the Jaws hotkey. But if you go to the Jaws website and get the latest
Jaws version from the site and install it it will get rid of

Hi Adrian,
Despite the fact that it is normal that JAWS does say anything when you save
with CTRL+S if you correctly opened the template for editing (the more you
might hear is the sound assigned to the Process Completed event if you have the

Hi Adrian,
Pressing, Control + S, to save, or pressing, Alt + D, to save as default, &

Well, the properties dialog for normal.dotm indicates a change was made at the
time I attempted to save it, so I may have succeeded despite the lack of JAWS
confirmation. Unfortunately, I don't think my changes took effect. The page

Mike, you anticipated the query I just posted. Our messages crossed. I've gone

David, thanks. These steps bring up the template. But no good deed goes

start the "save as" process, it doesn't offer the normal.dotm filename, and I
haven't figured out the path. I could give it that name, and I see

Jim, thank you for your example of faith and trust in God and we will keep

It didn't to me Adrian. Pressing alt-s f simply put an f in my document, but
this may be due to the fact that on this computer Word has a Greek layout,

Could you explain your phrase, "JAWS in crushing"? I think I've noticed it in
