yes but as avast is scanning all files in realtime anyway, you can just
do a manual scan if you're afraid a file you've coppied isn't well,
trust worthy. just do that once a week and you should be good to go. i
don't see why i should use any more of microsoft's products than i have

avast also scans automatically on startup for rootkits and boot viruses.

Yes, you are correct, the latest version of avast is useable with jaws.
there are still a few minor bugs for them to fix such as the labels on
the edit boxes when registering, but at least they're working on them!
