Thanks Jim, I will try setting VLC as the default DVD player to see what happens. I did try pressing Enter after the music started playing on the DVD, but it still wouldn't play.

Hi Mike,
It sounds like you did not press the enter key after hearing the opening
music, also, set VLC to your default DVD player.
Just to make sure we are on the same page, this is what I did just now.
VLC, works in w-10.
here is what I did.
Go to Ninite.com.
Under media heading, check, VLC media player.
Go to, get installer button, press enter.
Press ALT+n, tab to run, press enter.
After the program is set up and installed.
Press Windows key+I, press enter on System.
Go down to, default apps, tab to dvd, press spacebar on whatever is the
default, tab to VLC media player, press spacebar to make it the default dvd
player.
Put a DVD in your computer.
Press enter on this PC icon on your desktop.
Go down to your DVD drive, which should say the title of your DVD movie in
the drive.
Press the application key.
Go down to play with VLC player, press enter.
You will hear the music start playing, wait a few seconds, Press the enter
key to start the movie.
While the movie is playing.
Press the ALT key by itself.
Right arrow one time to playback menu.
Down arrow and look at all the selections you have.
Play/pause, stop, next chapter, previous chapter.
All these work.
On the main screen, S, for stop, works, P, for play, will start the movie
over, after hearing the music, Press enter, to start the movie.
Overall, works like it did on w-7.
I hope this helps...
Also, according to PC world, the Windows DVD media player built into w-10,
will work in the future, Microsoft is still working on it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws accessible DVD playback software for Windows 10

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some DVD playback software that I can use on my computer
after having installed Windows 10. Frankly, I prefer something free, but
would not mind spending a little on something that works. I have installed
the latest version of VLC Media Player, which says it is Windows 10
compatible, but I cannot seem to get past the theme music of any given
movie. I have exhausted my ideas of how to make the software move on and
sactually start playing the video itself. Any and all suggestions will be
very appreciated. Thanks for your help.
