I wound up calling the Microsoft Disability line and they were able to
fix it.
The computer was in tablet mode and needed to be in desktop mode and
they changed the screen layout from portrait to landscape. I believe
that all this is in Settings and display.

Regarding your hidden desktop, if you press alt+B, this is a Windows
shortcut to take you to the system tray where you find the time and all the
programs running on your computer in the background.
Tabbing once from this point will take you to a button.

I don't know what to tell you about the hidden desktop, but try
pressing control up arrow, or 8 on the num pad, and that should get
youset right again.
