Re: [JAWS-Users] How do i copy laptop keystrokes for jaws 8 in to an email message?

2007-06-06 Thread Negoslav Sabev
Yes, it's easy to copy the info. It's like copying a text from a word
document for example. But the problem is that the keystrokes are put in a
table. But it's not a big thing because you can select the whole table with
only one push of a key. Go to the beginning of the table and press f8 and
all the data in it will be selected. You can check this by pressing
insert+shift+down arrow. The only thing left is to copy the data and paste
it where you want. f8 works for all html elements you want to select.

Hope this helps.

[JAWS-Users] PowerPoint problem

2007-06-06 Thread D.A.Child
 Dear JFW Users,

I am new to this list but an experienced everyday user of JFW at work
and at home. I have a problem at work running JFW V8.00 and with
Powerpoint running on XP and MS Office 2003. There is a regular 6 second
delay between slides when in Slide Show mode. This only occurs on my
office desk top pc. My home pc and lap top are fine running the same
software configuration. My work IT support service colleagues are
mystified. They have checked sound card and other technical checks. They
have been in contact with the UK supplier- Blazie - but to no
resolution. They have just built me a brand new pc and the same problem
persists? Any ideas please?

[JAWS-Users] note on the archives and a bit more, please read

2007-06-06 Thread David Ferrin
The archives are up and searchable FYI. Please take note of the address in the
message footer as I updated it last evening. If you wish to search the free
archives page back to either the time when we were on Yahoo groups or Google
groups those addresses are listed on the main index page on the web site.

Now for a bit of an explanation for those who have no idea what went on last
evening. The fact is I know that quite a large number of you are appreciative
that this list is available to you and also glad for the way it is run. That's
why we do it and besides most of the time it's an enjoyable experience. I got a
phone call the other day from a guy asking why he had been kicked off the list,
naturally of course he was not. I said I would look in to it and add him in
personally if it needed to be done. Now get this he was already a member from
google and as a result was included in the transfer last Thursday. The problem
was he hadn't updated his address book and as such wasn't able to post since I
closed the google list down right away. So let's review a minute if memory
serves me correctly everybody received ample notice that the list was going to
move at least 3 weeks before it finally changed over to a different server. So
then his first message after that got straightened out was something like he
had been forgotten by me and had to kill some animal and make his wife a new
coat out of the skins just to get back on the list. OK I laughed that off as
best I could. Then a little while later that same day he posts that the
moderators aren't doing their jobs by allowing personal messages to be posted
on a technical list. The straw was last night when he made the comment that he
had to change an entry in his address book twice in a 6 month period. That
upset me oh yes it did for sure, and let's not forget the fact that Patty was
sitting here with me at that very moment as well. She got upset which set me
off. The best description can be summed up in one word, boom. I will continue
to do this list so long as I can and there is a need for it. I'm sorry for
blowing up last evening, but I feel justified of that have no doubt. I mean if
changing an entry in your address book is too much to ask then I feel you are
somebody who is in need of a lot more then a mailing list where you may ask
technical questions. Again I offer an apology for anybody who got scared of my
wrath last night.

Already there Mike but that means nothing when a list you belong to has been
altered twice within a 6 month period.
Other than that, your suggestion makes good sense.

 David,
If everybody put their address in their own address book they would know
 if
their posting got to the list as it would appear in their in box, this
 also
applies to replying to a message, they then can be assured it has reached
 the list.
and it might save a lot of bother.

 Hi group:
I was one of the poor little lambs our shepherd David left out in the
 cold.
(b'a'a'a'a'a'a) But now I'm back and I only had to kill 3 wolves and a
 badger to get here.
By the way, my wife loves the new coat. (wicked grin)

This is a test of the Jaws-Users new list location.

[JAWS-Users] Transferring addresses

2007-06-06 Thread Rich Hamel
Hi guys;
I have XP and JAWS 6.0.
I had to change modems and when I did, my O.E. lost its address book.
For some reason, I have 2 identities in O.E. in one of my identities, I have
all of the contacts.

My question is; is there an easy way to transfer my contacts to the main
identity?

I tried exporting then importing, but this didn't work.

Thank you for any help.

Thank you, but I feel enough has been said. I did feel that the list
deserved an explanation first thing this morning, but now I'd like it to go
away and get back to the positive stuff this list is noted for. I've removed
the person in question and with luck that will be that as the saying goes.

OK all. I have some basic questions here as it has been some time since I've
initially set up things in outlook express. I am attempting to get into the
twenty first century and to go broad band with Comcast. However, for reasons
that aren't worth going into here I would like to continue my dial up

Hope this basic issue makes sense. And if folks wish they may send out info

Taking a moment to stray from the list's guide lines about keeping things on
topic regarding JAWS,

I have to totally agree with this post.

David, Rick, and David's wife, Patty, take a tremendous amount of their
time, both work and personal time, to make this list successful.

And, it is all done without financial compensation.

Not many things in life, these days, are free.

So, as a member of this list, I want to say a heart-felt thank you to the
management team for all their harde work and dedication in making this a
meaningful and important list.

It is all too easy to complain and criticize...but, saying thank you is a
lost practice these days.

I know I speak for many of the members on this list in saying thank you to
David, Rick and Patty.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

Cathy Harris

OK here's the deal I made the transition just as smooth as I possibly
could for all concerned, in fact I have had several people thank me for
doing such a nice job of it. So if changing an email address is too much
work for anybody then that's just too bad in my opinion. I do this as a
hobby and hopefully some good in the process will come out of it. Nobody
is required to be here at all, so take that for what it's worth. I'm
normally quite an even mannered guy but this is going too far already.
 Now
having said this I bid all good night. Rick if anything goes on over
 night
handle it as you see fit, I'll back you up all the way.

Yes, I have deleted deleted items as well, but I think it will only
 restore
the basic OE folders that came with the original program EG: inbox, saved
mail, deleted items, or drafts. Probably won't restore the folders that
 you
 created yourself.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and memory

2007-06-06 Thread Ricque
Hi Scott,
You may have 512mb of memorey installed, but all of it may not be available
for practical use.
Example, if you have an on-board video chip, then your memorey is being
shared with it.
In this case, your actual available memorey may be 496mb, or as low as
384mb,
and with Win XP, and Jaws, that will yield poor overall performance.
I would recommend a minum of 1024mb, i e 1gb of installed memorey for the
best performance with Jaws.

In this case, your actual available memorey may be 496mb, or as low as
 384mb,
and with Win XP, and Jaws, that will yield poor overall performance.
I would recommend a minum of 1024mb, i e 1gb of installed memorey for the
 best performance with Jaws.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and memory

2007-06-06 Thread Ricque
Hi Chris,
Yes, I've run Jaws on a little as 128mb, and a 733mhz processor,
but when I started asking for more resources with cd burning, or extracting
for example
Jaws suffered.
The thing to keep in mind is that Jaws will respond differently on every
machine, since no 2 machines are exactly alike.
I am running Jaws 8.0 on a machine with almost 2gb of installed ram, a
3.3ghz processor and a video chip that requires 128mb of the memorey,
but the front-side bus speed is slow
which creates a bottle-neck in the resources that definitely affects Jaws.
Similarly, I am running the same version on another machine with less
resources, but I experience better overall performance from Jaws.
So, sometimes with respect to Jaws, memorey is everything, and memorey is
nothing. smile
It's always a good idea to have sufficient memorey, for the o/s, and
applications, and whenever possible a video card with it's own memorey.
Jaws does rely heavily on video, and memorey.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Sending faxes

2007-06-06 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Chris,

I have, and continue to use, Winfax Pro, I think the latest version is 10 or
11.

I find this program to be completely accessible with Jaws, and everything is
done via dialog boxes, with a wizard, if you choose.

You can even create cover pages with it, and send it along with your
document.

The best part of this is, if you like to use Word or WordPerfect to compose
your documents, it will extract the document, as a file, and send it along
with the fax. I don't know if it does it with any other word processor, as
I usually use Word for my letters, but like I said, it's really easy to use.

Another trick I've learned, is to create a JPG file with my signature,
albeit, with some sighted assistance to crop it and make it rectangular to
fit the document, but once it's done, you can just paste it anywhere,
whether in a letter created by Word, or in the Winfax software, and voila,
you have an instantly signed document that you can fax anywhere you want.

Hope this helps.

Victor

Re: [JAWS-Users] Transferring addresses

2007-06-06 Thread rcham27
I am very confused.
The process I use is to go to the identity with the address book and click
on export. Then select address book. Then select the text file option. Then
type in the edit field, address book. Then click on next until the
finishcommand.
After all of that, I go back to the main identity and go to file and click
on import. When it asks for the file name, I type in Address book. The next
tab says WAB file Then I tab and the next thing says open. I click on that
and nothing happens.

I must be missing a couple of steps.

Can I just Copy and paste the address book somehow?

Thanks again.

I export as a WAB file myself. In fact I did the export and import process
a
little over an hour ago testing the information that came across here
earlier today regarding shared contacts. Try using that format and see if
 your results are any different.

 Yes, David.

When importing, I am prompted to edit the file and I try to use the same
name I saved it in, but the import says that there is no file of that
 name.
I was told to export in text format.

 Thank you again.

So if I understand you correctly exporting from identity 1 and importing
 to
identity 2 did not work, that's the correct procedure. Now I will admit
 I'm
not an expert on this particular topic unfortunately. Actually I am going
 to
work on it this week though as recent events have prompted me to become
 more
 diligent in this area.

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] Transferring addresses

 Hi guys;
I have XP and JAWS 6.0.
I had to change modems and when I did, my O.E. lost its address book.
For some reason, I have 2 identities in O.E. in one of my identities, I
 have
 all of the contacts.

My question is; is there an easy way to transfer my contacts to the main
 identity?

I tried exporting then importing, but this didn't work.

 Thank you for any help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and memory

2007-06-06 Thread Frederick
Hi Rick,
I wanted to thank you for the link. It turns out that there is memory
available for my machine and that's good. I am not sure who I would get to
install it but two gigabytes of ram is tempting!

God bless,
Mark

 Hi Mark,
I would recommend running the memorey advisor at:
 www.crucial.com
It is totally accessible with Jaws.
That's where I buy all of my memorey modules.

 Hi

I am running a 3 GHZ processor on my HP and 512 MB ram. Jaws seems to do
quite well but I wish I could upgrade to more ram. Any ideas on the best
 way
 to do this?
 God bless,

 Hi Chris,
Yes, I've run Jaws on a little as 128mb, and a 733mhz processor,
but when I started asking for more resources with cd burning, or
 extracting
 for example
 Jaws suffered.
The thing to keep in mind is that Jaws will respond differently on every
machine, since no 2 machines are exactly alike.
I am running Jaws 8.0 on a machine with almost 2gb of installed ram, a
3.3ghz processor and a video chip that requires 128mb of the memorey,
but the front-side bus speed is slow
which creates a bottle-neck in the resources that definitely affects
 Jaws.

 Richard Justice
