Subject: [JAWS-Users] scripts for thunderbird

This is what I've got from another list. Hope it helps.
Negoslav

Original message:

Hi,
I have put version 1.2 of my jaws scripts for thunderbird email client
on my website. The website is:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~ddalton/DownloadScriptsForThunderbird.html

If you have the scripts version 1.1 installed all ready then do the
following to update.
1. open thunderbird.
2 Press control shift w.
3. arrow to check for updates.
4. Press enter.
5. Type 1.2 into the input box and hit enter.
6. Jaws should say something like: checking if version 1.2 of the
scripts is available
7. A file download box should appear save the zip file in the usual way.

8 Extract the scripts to your user settings folder.
9. Open thunderbird and press insert q to verify you are running version
1.2 of the scripts.

I would just like to say that I will not
Update the scripts any more.
I just scripted thunderbird because I thought it was a good program to
start scripting with and I got a request from another list. Anyway if
anyone is interested in working further on the scripts let me know and I
will give you some information. Sorry about this if people would like to
see further updates. I have just got a lot on with school and I am
learning how to program so I really don't have time.

Finally I don't use thunderbird any more because I had the following
problems with it. If any one knows how to fix these please let me know
and I may consider switching back to thunderbird and continue updating
the scripts. If I add an address to the to field it guesses things and
adds them as well. For example if I want to have
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
in the to box it might guess
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
first so it sends the email to both addresses.
I also
Found that it would take a lot of work to provide the functionality that
OE offers. Anyway the address thing was my main problem so if anyone has
a solution please email me off list. If not then I will not be working
on the scripts further unless I finish learning c and complete the
projects I want to do with c.
Thanks for any interest in the scripts and please email me with
comments, questions, suggestions and feature requests. You can also tell
me about bugs you have found in the scripts.
I will definitely try to fix them or let someone know who is interested
in working further on the scripts.

Regards,
Daniel.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thunderbird questions

2007-06-15 Thread Paul D'Addario
I am very new to Thunderbird and so far it's terrific for my needs.
However, my setting for headers is normal and I still hear the x-western, or
whatever.
As time allows, I will continue to experiment and let you know if i gcan get
rid of it.

Yeah, that ex western is really annoying. Am hoping to find a solution to
that ASAP.

Insofar as sending my mail, I do believe it is sending it out quick, it is
just that every time I send something it reads through the whole line about
sending, progress percentage, etc. I am wondering if that might be more a
JAWS setting than T Bird, as OE doesn't do this while sending, only while
receiving.

Best,

 HI:

First of all, I am still learning the program myself, but regarding the
exstra garbage in the headers, I would try the following. Go to view
with alt v and then choose headers. There are two choices, all and
normal. Mine's set on normal, so try that setting and see if it helps.
Also, regarding speed, mine sends very fast, though it does jabber.
Sometimes my husband will get messages from me while it's still
jabbering, so you might be sending messages faster than you realize.

Now if I could only figure out how to get it to stop saying the window
types at the top of each paragraph, such as x western or x unicode.
 Hope this helps.

 Hi Steven,

I also get that popping sound from my speakers, when I'm using my laptop.

Are you using a laptop when you hear these popping sounds?

Is your laptop a Toshiba brand laptop?

Do you hear the popping sounds in conjunction with any other sounds, such
 as
e-mail receiving, or a window refreshing, or Internet Page or link getting
 entered on?

I have a Toshiba laptop, along with software that turns my laptop's
 speakers
 into surround sound system speakers.

Not only does it broaden the sound quality of them, but it also increases
the base, treble and all that other stuff.

Great when you're trying to listen to a described movie on your computer
 or
some really hip music, but when you're working, and Jaws is reading the
information on the page, along with snap, crackle and pop...Uhm, not so
 great...

You'll be happy to know that there is a way to fix that, if the normal way
 doesn't work.

If you bring up the default configuration file for Jaws by hitting the
insert+F2, then C for configuration manager, and open the default file,
press alt+S and arrow up to Synthesizer Options.

Once in the box, make sure the check box that says Allow wave files with
 software synthesizers is checked.

tab to the ok button, save with the control+S, and alt+F4 out of the
 configuration manager.

If that still doesn't fix the problem, check your system tray for any
 sound
 related applications.

An example I can use is on my computer and it's called Toshiba Virtual
Sound. This is the program that comes with the laptop, as part of the
included software and is also the software responsible for expanding and
broadening the sound when ever I play a media file.

Like I said, if you can shut this feature off, if you have it, that is, it
might fix a great deal of the snapping, crackling and popping.

 Let us know what happens.

 Victor

Hi Debbie,

Have you tried your Jaws cursor to see if you can see the number that way?

If you can, it should only be a matter of virtualizing the window with
insert+control+W and scrolling down to the text, highlighting the text and
copying and pasting it to the box. Just don't forget to press the escape
key once you're done highlighting and copying the text.

Insofar as sending my mail, I do believe it is sending it out quick, it is

When you open a text file with Excel you will get an import wizard that

[JAWS-Users] norton removal tool

2007-06-15 Thread karen schrade
Debbie, I just removed all of my Norton components with the removal tool
downloaded from the jaws-users website. I tried everything to find that
graphic and nothing worked. i used the jaws cursor; i virtualized the
window; I even copied the virtualized window and emailed it to my husband.
None of that worked. Griff came home and read me the letters to type in and
everything went smoothly after that. If you can get someone to read that
graphic to you, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it goes.
It even removed the icon from the desktop. HTH, Karen

Make sure that in Internet Explorer 7 that clear type is turned off.

1. Launch Internet Explorer.

2. Press Alt+T and up arrow to Internet Options and press Enter.

3. Control+Tab to the Advanced Page and tab to the Settings Treeview.

4. Down arrow to Multimedia, and down arrow once more to Always use
ClearType for HTML*-OFF and make sure this is set to off.
 5. Tab to OK and press Enter.

If you continue to have difficulty, you might completely uninstall JAWS
reboot, reinstall and reboot when finished.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Merging word document in Excel

2007-06-15 Thread Cohn, Jonathan C [IT]
There is also a couple of items under the insert menu:
  A) File.
  B) Object

If you use File I believe the result is a static view of the Excel document.
If you use Object then it asks what kind of object and one of the choices is
Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
My understanding is that this is then a Dynamic OLE link to the Excel
documents, so that anytime the Excel document changes the Word document will
reflect that change.

You can copy and paste from Word to Excel or you can save it as a text
file and Excel will open the text file.
When you open a text file with Excel you will get an import wizard that
will guide you through the process.
If you need more detailed help, let me know and I will run through the
process. It has been a while since I have done this, so I don't
remember all the steps off the top of my head.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Merging word document in Excel

2007-06-15 Thread Patricia
I've done this process several times and it works well for me...
I open Word*Office 2000, I open the excel spreadsheet I press the shift key
and right arrow across all the cells/columns/rows I want to copy then I do
control C, alt tab back to word and control P.
A few notes..

This will put it into a column/tables format which can resemble excel except
that you have to move around in it differently than in excel..
tab to jump to next cell shift-tab back to previous one. Left/right arrow
moves you by character within that cell. Up/down arrow works as indicated
but just wherever the cursor is at the time.
Whereas in excel you up/down arrow for instance and can left/right arrow and
quickly hop to cells but not in Word as columns/tables..
Insert-8 will read the entire row the cursor is in.
One other note to be very aware of..
when the last row and the last cell Jaws will say, if you press tab it will
add another row and will automatically drop you down to the next row of the
tables.
If this happens it can be removed by, place the cursor within that row and
pressing Alt E,D arrow to row delete and enter.
All of this the formatting associated with Word can be done for this table
such as..centering and so forth..
I've tried the text version method mentioned in other posts here and it
turned out disastrous

Hi all,

I want to thank all of you for your help.

I guess I'll go ahead and install AVG.

Take care.

Griff came home and read me the letters to type in
 and
everything went smoothly after that. If you can get someone to read that
graphic to you, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it
 goes.
It even removed the icon from the desktop. HTH, Karen

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using Mozilla Firefox

2007-06-15 Thread Linda
I have never used Mozilla Firefox before and am trying to help my
neighbor. Will I have any unusual problems in difference of layout or can I
operate it like Internet explorer in marking favorites, looking for links,
etc. I couldn't find internet explorer in the desktop or the windows menu.
Could it be possible that it isn't in there? Could someone completely erase
it? He says Mozilla Firefox has a better fire wall and is safer.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Merging word document in Excel

2007-06-15 Thread Frederick
Hi
I have the same type of issue. I don't know if it would work but one
might try:
1. Open the document in MS Word.
2. Do an alt F.
3. down arrow to save as and press enter.
4. Tab once and you will be in the file extension field.
5. Arrow to XML.
6. tab to save and press enter.
7. Close MS Word and try opening the XML file in Excel.

I hope this works.

God bless,

Patricia,

You said:

add another row and will automatically drop you down to the next row of the
tables.
If this happens it can be removed by, place the cursor within that row and

I think that you mean to press Alt+a, D for delete and then R for
row? Alt+a will put you into the table menu.

Your description above works for Excel. Hope that this clarify what
you mean. Just trying to help.

Thanks,

Lennie

 Patricia,

 You said:

when the last row and the last cell Jaws will say, if you press tab it
will
add another row and will automatically drop you down to the next row of
the
tables.
If this happens it can be removed by, place the cursor within that row and
pressing Alt E,D arrow to row delete and enter.

I think that you mean to press Alt+a, D for delete and then R for
row? Alt+a will put you into the table menu.

Your description above works for Excel. Hope that this clarify what
you mean. Just trying to help.

 Thanks,

 Lennie

At 11:55 AM 6/15/2007, you wrote:
I've done this process several times and it works well for me...
I open Word*Office 2000, I open the excel spreadsheet I press the shift
key
and right arrow across all the cells/columns/rows I want to copy then I do
control C, alt tab back to word and control P.
A few notes..

This will put it into a column/tables format which can resemble excel
except
that you have to move around in it differently than in excel..
tab to jump to next cell shift-tab back to previous one. Left/right arrow
moves you by character within that cell. Up/down arrow works as indicated
but just wherever the cursor is at the time.
Whereas in excel you up/down arrow for instance and can left/right arrow
and
quickly hop to cells but not in Word as columns/tables..
Insert-8 will read the entire row the cursor is in.
One other note to be very aware of..
when the last row and the last cell Jaws will say, if you press tab it
will
add another row and will automatically drop you down to the next row of
the
tables.
If this happens it can be removed by, place the cursor within that row and
pressing Alt E,D arrow to row delete and enter.
All of this the formatting associated with Word can be done for this table
such as..centering and so forth..
I've tried the text version method mentioned in other posts here and it
turned out disastrous

  Hi Steven,

I also get that popping sound from my speakers, when I'm using my
laptop.

Are you using a laptop when you hear these popping sounds?

Is your laptop a Toshiba brand laptop?

Do you hear the popping sounds in conjunction with any other sounds,
such
  as
e-mail receiving, or a window refreshing, or Internet Page or link
getting
  entered on?

I have a Toshiba laptop, along with software that turns my laptop's
  speakers
  into surround sound system speakers.

Not only does it broaden the sound quality of them, but it also
increases
the base, treble and all that other stuff.

Great when you're trying to listen to a described movie on your computer
  or
some really hip music, but when you're working, and Jaws is reading the
information on the page, along with snap, crackle and pop...Uhm, not so
  great...

You'll be happy to know that there is a way to fix that, if the normal
way
  doesn't work.

Like I said, if you can shut this feature off, if you have it, that is,
it
might fix a great deal of the snapping, crackling and popping.

  Let us know what happens.

Hi Steve,
While you have this particular message that causes that sound,
go thru it word for word, and line for line.
I suspect that it is either a word, or word combination that causes the
noise.
I've had the same thing on several machines, with different soundcards.

 [BlindHandyMan]CycloneConditions Here

Like I said, if you can shut this feature off, if you have it, that is,
it
might fix a great deal of the snapping, crackling and popping.

  Let us know what happens.

  Victor

I suspect that it is either a word, or word combination that causes the

 [BlindHandyMan]CycloneConditions Here

Like I said, if you can shut this feature off, if you have it, that is,
it
might fix a great deal of the snapping, crackling and popping.

  Let us know what happens.

  Victor

[JAWS-Users] O E collapsed messages

2007-06-15 Thread rcham27
I have JAWS 6.0 and X P.
In O. E., when I delete a collapsed message, I get a dialogue indicating if
I want to delete all messages to hit the space bar.

How can I get rid of this dialogue, and just hit the delete key once without
the prompt to perform any more key strokes ?

Thank you for your help.

When that dialogue opens, tab until you come to a checkbox, which will say
 something to the effect of,
don't ask me again, check the box, and okay the dialogue.
Next time you delete a collapsed message, all of those messages will be
 gone.

The last I heard, FS was emphasizing that their release for Vista is still

 Hi Folks,

Taken from Top Tech Tidbits, here is a segment on Jaws updates where you
can download every Jaws update for version 8 since it's release.

 Read below.

 7) I don't know how long this file will be available, and most
people won't want this large file, but if you have moved up within
JAWS version 8, found an upgrade didn't work for you and want to go
back, this 281-mb file contains an archive of all the JAWS version 8
upgrades that have been made available.
