Re: [JAWS-Users] email.

2009-06-02 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Holger,

Most of the time, the choice for sorting is found in the view menu of
programs. First, move into the list of messages in the Sent items folder.
The following is for Windows Mail, and Outlook Express should be very
similar. Press alt+V to bring up the view menu. Use down arrow to the
sort by menu and use right arrow key to move into the submenu. Use down
arrow to the Sent choice and if it is not checked then use enter key to
check it. Go back into the same sort by submenu and use down arrow key
until you get to the descending choice. If it is not checked then use
enter key to check it. If either choice is checked already then don't press
enter key on the choice or it will no longer be the active choice. Both the
Sent and the descending choices should be checked so that your sent
items folder will show the most recently sent items first.

In Microsoft Outlook 2007, again move into the sent items folder. Press
alt+V to go into the view menu. Use right arrow to move into the arrange
by submenu and if the Date choice is not checked then use enter key to
check it. If it is checked then use left arrow back into the main view
menu. Use down arrow key to the Current view menu and use right arrow
into the submenu. Use up arrow to the Customize current view choice and
press enter key. In the sort items by combo box make sure that the sent
choice is selected. If not then use up or down arrow keys to find that
choice. Use tab key to the radio buttons for ascending or descending and
make your choice. use the tab key to the OK button and press spacebar.

If you are using a different E-mail program then you will need to specify in
another message.

Take care.

Sounds like you gave it a good trial. It is logical that one scanner would
need to be the default, but there must have been a serious conflict between
the scanner softwares for there to be a problem beyond that.

Hi Mark,

This is simply not true.

One can use a multi-function printer on a system, after all, that's what
they're built for, computers and them being all in ones.

I would seriously doubt the person who gave you that advice.

In most cases, if not in all cases, the unit will perform what ever task you
ask it to perform.

Keep in mind this does not count any possible task you set it by pressing
any buttons on it, or by using it's software, but if you have a MFC
connected to your printer, and you ask it to print something, followed by a
scan of some kind, it should do so no problem.

Now that I think about it, it may be that you're referring to performing
tasks at the same time, to use my example above, printing something and
scanning it at the same instance, in which case, that person is right, this
cannot be done, however, this is not the failing of the computer, it is a
failing of the MFC, because the circuits simply don't have the capacity to
handle more than one job at the same time.

Hope this helps.

The recovered files are saved with the .asd extension. use the look-in box

files are kept. I showed the default paths for XP and Vista in my message

If you have the task pane unchecked though (as usually recommended for

where are those auto-recovered files. Had that problem recently and could
not locate them. The file under the user name/application settings was

 Hello Sherri,

If I remember correctly, the names of the recovered files are shown in the
recovery task pane. Try pressing function key 6 and see if it changes to
the pane where documents to be recovered are listed. If so, try moving on
to the document to be recovered and using the application key to see if
 you
have choices for opening, saving or deleting the recovered file. You
 might
also try tabbing in the pane to see if you come to those choices. If you
can't get the info you want in the recovery pane then you can try to open
the recovered file from within Word. Use the open dialog box and set the
files of type to All. If using XP then in the look-in list in the open
dialog browse to c:\documents and settings\your user name\application
data\Microsoft\word, press enter on the last part of that path (Word) to
 set
it as the active folder in the look-in box, tab three times to the list
 and
look for files with an ASD extension. If using Vista then in the open
dialog box in Word again set files of type to All and then browse the
c:\users\Your user name\app data\roaming\Microsoft\word and then look for
files with the extension ASD in that folder.

Here is a link to an article by Microsoft on using various methods for
recovering documents. Hopefully, the F6 will take you to the recovery
 pane
and you can open the recovered documents from there.

 Take care.

2009-06-02 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Leonard,

Try the following.
1. In the open message either control + F to forward or control + R to
reply.
2. If you are forwarding , fill in to whom you are sending the Email to and
then get into the body of the message.
3. Press Alt + O for the Format menu.
4. Arrow down and make sure that the Rich Text HTML Send pictures with
message boxes are checked. If not press enter or space baar on them to
check them. You might have to go into the format menu more than once to get
both of these boxes checked. Also, if you ever send an Email that has a
picture in it and you get that message asking you if you want to send the
pictures with the Email and you go into the format menu and the Rich Text
send pictures boxes are checked just press enter on the send pictures with
message anyway . For whatever reason doing this doesn't uncheck the box it
sends the pictures. Beats the hell out of me why it works this way but,
that's what works for me. I hope that I haven't totally confused you and
have basically gotten you shoved in the right direction. Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] pictures and outlook express

This issue was discussed a while back but I forgot the answer. When sending
a reply that I think contains pictures I get a message something like this
message has pictures that can not be sent send anyway? I say yes, but I want
to reply with all of the original message in tact.

SAPI is the speech application programming interface and is used to design
text to speech applications, including the voices we all know and love. JAWS
includes drivers to drive the SAPI voices you have on your computer.

Well, as long as you have it set, it should do it. Try pushing escape,
then

delete, and then enter to open the next message. It should read
automatically then.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Automatically read messages in Outlook 2007

Hello all,
How can I get JAWS 10 to automatically read messages in Outlook 2007? I've
enabled the option, but it only reads the first message. When I then press
CTRL+D to delete the message, I have to read subsequent ones manually,
unless I close the message window and re-open it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] installing jaws 10 difficulties

2009-06-02 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Cathie,

I hope you have already resolved the installation issue, but if not here are
some things you might try.

First, bring up the configuration utility by going to the run dialog box.
Press Windows key with R to get to the run prompt. At the prompt type in
msconfig (m s c o n f i g) and press enter key. When the configuration
utility opens use CTRL+tab until you get to the startup page of the dialog.
Focus should be in a list of processes that start when the Windows operating
system loads. If not then use tab key until you are in the list. Use up
and down arrow keys in the list and remove the checkmark from any entries
having to do with Epson. You might make note of the entries in case you
want to enable them again later. Use the spacebar to remove the checkmark
on any entry having to do with Epson if it is checked. Use tab key to the
apply button and press spacebar. You can then use tab key to the close
button and press spacebar. When asked if you want to restart answer yes.
Your computer will restart without the Epson related processes loading.
When Windows loads you might get a dialog box letting you know that changes
were made to the configuration utility. use tab key to the checkbox that
says something like don't show this again and use spacebar to check the
box. use tab key to the OK button and press spacebar.

Try installing JAWS again with those processes disabled. After installation
remember to enable to processes that you need to start with Windows in the
configuration utility by checking the boxes from which you removed
checkmarks.

If the above steps still don't work then you might need to check for startup
shortcuts in the startup group and delete them. You might also need to stop
some services from running automatically. Otherwise, there might also be a
corrupted Windows installer and you might need to the Windows installer
cleanup tool.

I hope you get it worked out.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] installing jaws 10 difficulties

Hi, Am trying to install jaws 10 on my laptop (xp home) which also has
jaws 8 (turned off when installing. After hitting the setup button and
music turns to waves sound speech stops the error sound occurs..
Bringing up jaws 8 tells me that there is a problem with Epson scan; it is
trying to copy or scan. Epson can't because it is not plugged in! Not
sure why it is trying to copy or scan when installing jaws. but after
closing the Epson error window nothing more happens; the jaws
installation has not only stopped but seemingly disappeared.

Epson is used when scanning with openbook.
Thanks for any advice.
