Michael, Try going to JAWS quick settings dialog with JAWS key+v. You'll land on an edit field. Type "language" (without the quotation marks) and you'll bring up a list of three relevant items, beginning with language detection. I believe language detection doesn't work with all synthesizers.

I don't use outlook, but I believe this will work. While in Outlook, press insert + V to bring up the quick settings, then in the search box type in "edge", then press tab to get to the results list. There will be an option called "Top and bottom edge alert with sound", press space to toggle
