Re: [JAWS-Users] How do i copy laptop keystrokes for jaws 8 in to an email message?

2007-06-06 Thread Negoslav Sabev
Yes, it's easy to copy the info. It's like copying a text from a word
document for example. But the problem is that the keystrokes are put in a
table. But it's not a big thing because you can select the whole table with
only one push of a key. Go to the beginning of the table and press f8 and
all the data in it will be selected. You can check this by pressing
insert+shift+down arrow. The only thing left is to copy the data and paste
it where you want. f8 works for all html elements you want to select.

Hope this helps.

Original message:

Hi,
I have put version 1.2 of my jaws scripts for thunderbird email client
on my website. The website is:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~ddalton/DownloadScriptsForThunderbird.html

If you have the scripts version 1.1 installed all ready then do the
following to update.
1. open thunderbird.
2 Press control shift w.
3. arrow to check for updates.
4. Press enter.
5. Type 1.2 into the input box and hit enter.
6. Jaws should say something like: checking if version 1.2 of the
scripts is available
7. A file download box should appear save the zip file in the usual way.

8 Extract the scripts to your user settings folder.
9. Open thunderbird and press insert q to verify you are running version
1.2 of the scripts.

I would just like to say that I will not
Update the scripts any more.
I just scripted thunderbird because I thought it was a good program to
start scripting with and I got a request from another list. Anyway if
anyone is interested in working further on the scripts let me know and I
will give you some information. Sorry about this if people would like to
see further updates. I have just got a lot on with school and I am
learning how to program so I really don't have time.

Finally I don't use thunderbird any more because I had the following
problems with it. If any one knows how to fix these please let me know
and I may consider switching back to thunderbird and continue updating
the scripts. If I add an address to the to field it guesses things and
adds them as well. For example if I want to have
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
in the to box it might guess
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
first so it sends the email to both addresses.
I also
Found that it would take a lot of work to provide the functionality that
OE offers. Anyway the address thing was my main problem so if anyone has
a solution please email me off list. If not then I will not be working
on the scripts further unless I finish learning c and complete the
projects I want to do with c.
Thanks for any interest in the scripts and please email me with
comments, questions, suggestions and feature requests. You can also tell
me about bugs you have found in the scripts.
I will definitely try to fix them or let someone know who is interested
in working further on the scripts.

Daniel.

Hello Casey,

I used google talk with jaws version 7.10. On jaws-users.com you can find

I had it when I had JAWS 6.0, but now have Version 7.10 and it still doesn't
work that great with Google Talk. Not at all, to be exact. I canceled my
service
with Google talk and moved over to Windows Live Messenger. The only reason
I'm asking is, I have a few friends on the Google Talk Network I like to
keep
in touch with, but I can't use it because JAWS isn't compatible with it. If
there isn't a version of JAWS that works with Google Talk, it's ok. I'll
just
send my friends invitations to join Windows Live Messenger.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Re: [JAWS-Users] win amp 5.35 question

2007-09-23 Thread Negoslav Sabev
I don't use winamp 5.35 but I believe you should do the following to
automatically play cds in winamp:
1. open winamp
2. ctrl.+p to open the preferences dialogue.
3. go to general preferences and expand it with right arrow if it is
collapsed
4. go down to filetypes
5. tab to launch winamp for audio CDs checkbox and check it. You will go
to
the checkbox faster if you do a shift+tab a few times.
6. press enter or tab to close button and activate it to close the
dialogue.
Now winamp should automatically play audio CDs when inserted.
About the menus, you should be able to see them if you press alt+f.
This is all I can say at the moment.
Hope this helps,
Negoslav

idea to set up that first. Try the following to set your desired voice
settings to an application:

1. Open the application in which you want the different voice, like a
Real Speak Solo Direct voice.

2. Press the JAWS +j key combination to open the JAWS menus.

3. Press o for options.

4. Press v for Voices.

5. Press g for Global voices.

6.Press the Down arrow to select the Modify application current

7. Press Tab once and then select a profile. If you have set up a
desired profile, you can select it from this list. If not, you can select

8. Continue through the dialog and select your desired person, rate and

Re: [JAWS-Users] Voice Profiles

2009-04-10 Thread Negoslav Sabev

Would you mind sharing how it is done?
If I use OE and eloquence with it, but I stumble upon some unknown word, I'd
like to start my dictionary with my sapi5 profile and bulgarian voice. And
When I start word for example to read an english book, I want to open word
and hear Daniel's sapi5 voice for example. I've never been able to achieve
this result - switching through this 3 opened applications to hear the
different synths and voices.

It's good what David pointed to, but there's no word for the profiles.

No, it's not working correctly. That's why there are different scripts for
the different versions. The biggest reason is that the look is very
different.

[JAWS-Users] beta changes in voice ajustmant

2009-09-09 Thread Negoslav Sabev

Hello,

I installed jaws 11 beta and noticed a thing that I miss so much from the
previous versions. Let me explain.

I use eloquence as my primary voice profile. For reading with alternate say
all feature I used a sapi5 voice for bulgarian language. This was with jaws
8, 9 and 10. Now I see it's not possible. When I try to set the voice for
say all to the bulgarian one, it's not in the list. It appears only
in the sapi5 profiles. In the settings for eloquence appear only the english
voices on my system.

I miss this, because using eloquence I read most of the time, but when I
need to read bulgarian text, I need to change voice profiles, witch takes
more time. It is much faster just to press the keystroke and to read it. I
see that now we are choosing the language for the profile, but I think that
for say all we should be given the option to choose different language than
the main for the profile.

My question is, is this done with a purpose or is a bug?

Insert plus the number 8 key on the number row of keys directly below the
row of function keys. That brings you into an application's keyboard

Re: [JAWS-Users] Research It for JAWS 11 (Last securitybuild)notworking

2010-09-20 Thread Negoslav Sabev

Jaws interacts mainly with the computer, but some of it's modules as update,
tandem, research it, authorization need internet access. the firewall
controls what software is accessing internet and if a software tries to
access your PC. Usually all those modules need to be allowed sepretly
through the firewall. If research it asked you for access, but you didn't
sea or allow it, it won't function right. First let us know if you have a
active firewall and what is it.
So jaws may work, but you may expirience some problems as you do now. The
firewall may not be the problem, but it's a possibility.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Alternate Say All

2010-09-29 Thread Negoslav Sabev
Personally, I like how the previous versions handeled the alternate voice.
You could set the alternate voice to use different language, but in 11 it's
difficuld if not impossible

If you set the alternate voice in jaws settings just press insert+alt+down
arrow.

To set it up, here is how from the jaws help.

JAWS can immediately switch from one synthesizer, for example, Eloquence
Software, to another, such as SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct, when using
the Say All command (INSERT+DOWN ARROW). While the default Eloquence voice
may be useful for reading and navigating short text such as prior or next
line, sentence, or paragraph, it may not be the preferred voice for longer
passages of text. The SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct voice chosen remains
active during the Say All even as you fast forward, rewind, speed up, or
slow down. However, when you stop the Say All, the Eloquence voice returns.

Use the following controls in the Say All group to set preferences for how
the Say All command works.

Speech Synthesizer
Use this combo box to select the synthesizer used for Say All. Select either
Default, SAPI 5, or RealSpeak Solo Direct. When using Default, all other
controls in the Say All group are unavailable. Also, note that RealSpeak
Solo Direct is only available if you have downloaded and installed a
RealSpeak Solo Direct voice.

If the Say All synthesizer is Default, then either SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo
Direct will be used for an Alternate Say All (ALT+INSERT+DOWN ARROW). If
either SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct is selected, the Default synthesizer
is used for Alternate Say All.

Rate
Use this slider to select a comfortable speech rate for the Say All voice.
PAGE DOWN and PAGE UP change the rate of speech by larger increments, while
the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys make more gradual changes.

Punctuation
Use this list to set the punctuation level used by JAWS when the Say All
voice speaks. Use the UP or DOWN ARROW keys to select a punctuation level.
The options available are None, Some, Most, which is the default, and All.

Person
The Person combo box lets you to select which SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo
Direct synthesizer voice to use for Say All.

Pitch
The Pitch slider allows you to adjust the pitch for the currently selected
voice. Note that some SAPI5 and RealSpeak Solo Direct synthesizers do not
support pitch change like Eloquence and some other hardware and software
synthesizers.

Volume
Use the slider to increase or decrease the Say All speech volume. The DOWN
ARROW , LEFT ARROW, and PAGE DOWN keys decrease volume, and the UP ARROW,
RIGHT ARROW, and PAGE UP keys increase volume.

OK
This button saves any changes made and then closes the Voice Adjustment
dialog box. This button is not available when changes are made to any
factory default voice profile template. You must use the Save As button to
save any changes made to a factory template.

Save As
Choose this button to save your current voice settings as part of a voice
profile. Type a name for your voice profile or select an existing profile
from the list. If you select an existing profile, that profile's individual
voice settings will be overwritten by the new settings when you choose OK.

Apply
Use this button to apply and save any changes made to the voice profile
settings without exiting the Voice Adjustment dialog box.

Cancel
When you select this button, any changes you have made are discarded, and
the Voice Adjustment dialog box closes. - Original Message -

Good afternoon,

Is there a mailing list for Skype users? I belong to a prayer group using
Skype and they all told me that I was in and out where they could not hear
me and they could not hear the song that I played.

First of all, I got a new external mic, I was using the mic on my laptop.
Because I am using Vistah home and I have another one using Wind7 home I
can

not use quick mix, is there another program that I can use where my music
and such will be clear?

I recently installed Firefox at work because Jaws 10 with IE 7 just
didn't work to fill out a number of forms that I'm responsible for.
Fortunately, Firefox is doing the job. There are 2 things I can't
figure out with Firefox though.

1. I can't figure out how to turn on the feature to have web addresses
that I go to often auto complete when I start typing the address.

2. In IE what Jaws calls combo boxes are called list boxes in Firefox,
and they seem to operate differently. In Firefox, the only way I can
find to select an item is to hit enter on it. That's not a problem -
although I don't know what will happen when I come across a
multi-select list box. The problem is that after I select an item Jaws
doesn't recognize it when I read through the page to check my work.
Jaws just says list box collapsed. My work around has been to unload
firefox and go back to IE so that Jaws can read the selections in the
combo boxes. This isn't a big deal, but if there's a better way to
handle this, I'd love to know.

If there is anyone on list who regularly uses Audasity for audio
production, would you please write me off list? I have a few questions.
I know how to record and export audio to mp3, or vorbis, etc. but I need
to expand a bit beyond that. I'll be more specific once I get some
responses, but, essentially, I really need some help with how to edit, and
also how to multi-track. I hear it's kind a similar to gold Wave as faras
editting, but I just haven't been able to get my head around how this
works in Audasity. I can do it in gW, but, GW won't do true over
dubbing/multi-tracking. Sure there's paste mix, but that's not what I
need to do. I need to be able to over dubbg in realtime. I know you can
do this with Sonar, but Sonar's not affordable for me at this state in
time. Plus due to other reasons, I don't feel Cakewalk is gonna be
comporable at this time.

Anyway, if you think you can help, or point me to either an audio or text
tutorial that goes fairly in depth, let me know. Also, if there are any
audasity scripts in existance, I'd love 'em, provided that they'd work
with jaws 11.

Don't know what windows version you use, but in windows explorer windows go
to tools menu, choose options and tab until you hear Open each folder in
its own window. I think here is the problem. You must arrow once to hear
Open each folder in the same window and press enter or go to ok button and
press space.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessibility and capability of the Free 'Studio 5.0'

2011-01-13 Thread Negoslav Sabev

I can suggest to try format factory. Here is a direct link.

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/general/download.cfm/format_factory?mirror_id=0version_id=30203software_id=2243
Or it it wraps, try this shorter one

http://tinyurl.com/6e9bowx

This is how it works.

There are two menu bars in Format Factory. One is where you expect it but
the other is down the left side of the screen.

first turn on the mouse cursor then go to the left side of the screen.

Arrow up or down. Let's say you want to turn the video into an mp3 file,
click on audio

A menu will open up

Arrow down to all to mp3 and click it.

turn the pc cursor on and you will be in the dialog.

Tab through and add the files or folders and tab through the dialog to
choose just what you want.

Tab to OK and hit enter.

Turn the mouse cursor on and go to the menu bar at the top of the page.

Click on tasks

A menu wil open so click on start conversion.

when it is finished the file will be found in the FFOutput folder in My
documents.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2003 regarding importing account settings

2011-03-02 Thread Negoslav Sabev
Here is the answer. The import is different from doing this in OE. Hope you
have OE on the same computer with outlook 2003. If so:

1. Open MS Outlook 2003;
2. File menu/import and export;
3. When the dialogue opens, arrow down to import internet mail account
settings and press next button;
4. In the next window choose microsoft outlook express if it's not
selected and press next;

5. In the next window choose the account to import and press next;
6. You just follow the wizard and the settings are already filled in. You
just change them if you want. I think only the password should be entered
manualy.

If outlook 2003 it's on another computer or is on windows 7 system, you have
2 choices:
1. To activate windows mail on windows 7 system and import exported OE
account there. Then try to import from outlook. Never tryed it.
2. Install outlook 2003 on the system where OE is. Import the account in
outlook and just migrate the outlook pst files on the other system.

This are just ideas, but they may work.

Does this method no longer work for carrying around your settings with

However, the first six pages still have page numbers 1 through 6 on them.
According to a little web research, I should be able to go into the footer

removes all page numbers for the entire document. Does anyone know how to

You need to do the break for headers and footers separately. If you want
different header and footers for odd and even pages you should break the
connection for headers and footers of odd and even pages separatly also.

You should continue tabbing. May be I misleded you, it is not a
link. Jaws pronounces it as checkbox. It is found in the design tab,
last in the navigation section, fifth one in the tab order in the section.
Or you can just press
alt+j+h+k. For me the hotkeys not seem to work consistently and often I go
to check if they worked.

I don't understand the jaws scripting language, but found an alternative way

For no reason, all of a sudden, I now hear Heading Level 3 inserted along

can't figure out how to get rid of it saying this because I don't know if
it

Thanks for all help in dealing with this new annoyance.

There may be some software out there but one off the cuff way to do this
and I don't know if it would work but...

Open .pdf file using scanning software.
I think scanning software like Openbook reads PDF files better.
File is read using synthesized voice, eloquence, sappy...
You can then record the synthesized reading using a digital recorder.
You now have a audio file on your recorder that you can copy to your PC.
I know that you can go from speech to text using Dragon or similar
software but don't know if there are other ways.

Hi,
This has been discussed on the Windows 7 list. Unfortunately, it is not
possible to use JAWS in a Windows XP mode environment. Virtual PC
creates a terminal session by default, and JAWS doesn't understand that
it's not actually a terminal session; rather a virtual terminal
session created by Virtual PC. As a result JAWS thinks you're trying to
run it in a terminal session, and therefore will not work and instead
display an error message and quits. For the record, other screen readers
work, but this is outside the scopes of this list.
Sorry about that.

3. Jaws Key + J for Jaws options, then Individual voices I went through

selected Paul as the default voices for the PC, keyboard, tutor messages
voice and Kate as the Jaws cursor voice.
Paul works as the default temporarily. If I invoke the Jaws key + F4
keystroke to unload Jaws and then
reload Jaws6, Paul say Jaws for Windows is ready, and that is it!

If I then invoke the keystroke Jaws key, control, + S keystroke and press

starts working .

What do I have to do to make SAPI5 work without having to invoke the

Hi Chris, Flor,  Negoslav;

First, I want to thank all of you for all the great input. I did get the
Paul voice working but, not for long. I invoked the Insert, control , + S
keystroke and switched to SAPI5. Switched to SAPI5 in Synthesizer Options
in the configuration manager, went into Jaws options and made all the
necessary voice changes / adjustments, had everything working good but, if
I

close Jaws6 and try to start it, it doesn't work. I had to change it back

After some playing around I finally got Paul to work as the default voice.
I first had to make Paul the default voice in Speech Properties in the

^p is a paragraph break; ^l is a line break. Sometimes tab breaks (bt)
can create unneeded extra space. You could remove them also, if desired.
(It might be desireable to replace ^t with a single space - usually
that is ^s.)

Hi Flor,

Hot Damn! Thank you, thank you, thank you! That took this document
down

from 85 pages to 45 pages! It made 2,859 replacements! Does the, ^p,
represent blank lines? Or, what does, ^p, tell the replacement option
to
do? I mean, I've witnessed the obvious but, I'm just wondering what
the,

^p, represents! Thanks again, take care.

 Hi Mike,

In your document, press control+h to go into your Find Replace
dialogue. In the Find field, type ^p . [carat p.] leave the
Replacement
field blank. tab to Replace All or press alt+a. After a bit, word
will

tell you that it has made xxx replacements, xxx being the number of
 them. OK button.

If you don't see the ^p option (if it's grayed out), then activate
the
Special button menu by pressing spacebar on it. It's on one of the
tabs

 in the FR dialogue.

[JAWS-Users] Theophilos Bible Software

2007-11-14 Thread Negoslav Sabev
Hello list,

Today I downloaded and installed version 3.1 of Theophilos. I discovered
that I can not read with say all command. What happens is that it reads few
verses and the last one it reads is not the full text. Anyone using Say all
successfully? In jaws with popular aplications I read that Jaws works with
version 3.0 Omega. Do I need to downgrade to that version? If yes, where do
I download? I couldn't find this version with google.
Using Jaws 8.0 and xp pro.

Thanks in advance

Hello list. Here are instructions for installing and getting the help
balloon script to work. this script will make it possible to click help
balloons wit one keystroke in versions of jaws prior to jaws nine.
Everything below the stars is the script itself. First, select the entire
script text and copy it to the clipboard. Then, hit insert f2 and bring up
script manager.Once script manager opens, press control shift d to bring
up the default script file. Then move to the bottom of it with control
end. then, hit enter once or twice to make sure your on a blank line,,and
paste the contents of the script. Then move into the body of the script
and hit control d. Once you do, a script information dialogue box will
appear. Tab through it and fill in the various fields, leaving the script
name box intact. You can fill in the synopsis and description fields if
you wish. Make sure the can be attached to key checkbox is checked. You
can use any keystroke you wish that won't conflict
with another keystroke. I used control shift l myself. Then click ok and
hit control s to recompile the default script file, and use alt f4 to
close the dialogue. After that, when a help balloon appears, you should be
able to use the keystroke you assigned to click it. If anyone needs any
further help, feel free to let me know, either on list or privately. The
scrip follows. Hope this was helpful.

[JAWS-Users] virtual machine software

2007-12-11 Thread Negoslav Sabev
Hello all,

I need urgently to learn how to work with Linux. I know there's a software
called vmware, that I can use under windows to create a virtual machine where
to install and learn and use Linux OS. I heard that there
are jaws scripts for VMWare server that make it accessible. Does anyone know
where I can get those
scripts, and witch version of vmware do they work with? My second question is,
can a
blind jaws user work withVMWare Workstation or server edition without scripts,
and if not, are there other programs I can use with jaws.
Thanks in advance for your help,

I have in line auto complete turned on but I have noticed in Jaws 9 as I
start typing a web address in the run dialog box, that jaws doesn’t
automatically read the change in the text. But in Jaws 8 the text was
 read

have another system to try it on so I don’t know if it’s just the

Did you try to unload and reload jaws? Usually it helps.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Append Clipboard Feature

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem with the append
 clipboard feature with Jaws 9.
I can append copied text to the clipboard and then copy that text.
However, when I try `to overwrite the contents of the clipboard by doing
 the
control c, I get the normal message saying, pressing control c or control
 x
will overwrite the content of the clipboard, do you want to continue. I
 say
yes, but when I go to paste the clipboard, the original text is pasted and
 it hasn't been overwritten.
The only thing I can do is to unload Jaws 9 and then restart it.
Any suggestions, or am I the only one having this problem?

 Thanks,

 Denny Huff

ctrl+f1 should do the job. Or you can go to the view menu and if taskpane is
checked, press enter to hide it.

How do you close task panes?

A work around could be to use alt down arrow to read sentence rather than
down arrow by itself. If screen reading is flaky I sometimes do this and
 it
seems to work as well as using say all and is more reliable than line
reading. This key combination should also work in header fields.

 You could also

 1. Press insert plus escape to refresh the screen. This can sometimes
 resolve the problem.
 2. If that does not work also pressing the start button twice and
 navigating
back to word can sometimes help.
 3. Alt tabbing away from and back to window can also help.
 4. Make sure that your windows are maximised.
 5. Make sure that no task panes are open. Close these down.
 6. Unload and reload Jaws if none of the above helps.

In your position though I would probably repair or reinstall Jaws 8 and
make sure that default settings are chosen. . Also make sure that
recommended Windows settings for Jaws are set up. That is colours,
 classic
start menu and list folder views etc.

You may have to forgo configuration files and configure Jaws to your
 liking
 again.

 Best of luck

Subject: [JAWS-Users] I'm having trouble with JAWS speaking in word
 oroutlook

 Hi everyone,

I seem to have a problem with JAWS speaking in word or outlook. I'm
 using
 JAWS 8 and office 2007.

It doesn't happen everytime but enough to become very aggravating. What
 happens is JAWS

Says blank, blank as I try to read a line or a particular message header.
Using the Say line or say word command JAWS says blank, blank. By using
 the
say all command JAWS will read the document.

Also by using the F10 command JAWS reads inside the box as no selected
 item
 and sometimes

Using the F11 command, the system tray reads blank, blank. As I am typing
 this message these things

 Are happening. Can anyone help?

 Also this was word 2007.

 Father Doug
