Re: [JAWS-Users] How do i copy laptop keystrokes for jaws 8 in to an email message?
Yes, it's easy to copy the info. It's like copying a text from a word document for example. But the problem is that the keystrokes are put in a table. But it's not a big thing because you can select the whole table with only one push of a key. Go to the beginning of the table and press f8 and all the data in it will be selected. You can check this by pressing insert+shift+down arrow. The only thing left is to copy the data and paste it where you want. f8 works for all html elements you want to select. Hope this helps. The website is: http://members.iinet.net.au/~ddalton/DownloadScriptsForThunderbird.html If you have the scripts version 1.1 installed all ready then do the following to update. 1. open thunderbird. 2 Press control shift w. 3. arrow to check for updates. 4. Press enter. 5. Type 1.2 into the input box and hit enter. 6. Jaws should say something like: checking if version 1.2 of the scripts is available 7. A file download box should appear save the zip file in the usual way. 8 Extract the scripts to your user settings folder. 9. Open thunderbird and press insert q to verify you are running version 1.2 of the scripts. I would just like to say that I will not Update the scripts any more. I just scripted thunderbird because I thought it was a good program to start scripting with and I got a request from another list. Anyway if anyone is interested in working further on the scripts let me know and I will give you some information. Sorry about this if people would like to see further updates. I have just got a lot on with school and I am learning how to program so I really don't have time. Finally I don't use thunderbird any more because I had the following problems with it. If any one knows how to fix these please let me know and I may consider switching back to thunderbird and continue updating the scripts. If I add an address to the to field it guesses things and adds them as well. For example if I want to have [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the to box it might guess [EMAIL PROTECTED] first so it sends the email to both addresses. I also Found that it would take a lot of work to provide the functionality that OE offers. Anyway the address thing was my main problem so if anyone has a solution please email me off list. If not then I will not be working on the scripts further unless I finish learning c and complete the projects I want to do with c. Thanks for any interest in the scripts and please email me with comments, questions, suggestions and feature requests. You can also tell me about bugs you have found in the scripts. Hello Casey, I used google talk with jaws version 7.10. On jaws-users.com you can find scripts for google talk. They are not perfect for jaws 7.10 but work well. I don't use winamp 5.35 but I believe you should do the following to automatically play cds in winamp: 1. open winamp 2. ctrl.+p to open the preferences dialogue. 3. go to general preferences and expand it with right arrow if it is collapsed 4. go down to filetypes 5. tab to launch winamp for audio CDs checkbox and check it. You will go to the checkbox faster if you do a shift+tab a few times. 6. press enter or tab to close button and activate it to close the dialogue. [JAWS-Users] beta changes in voice ajustmant
Hello, I installed jaws 11 beta and noticed a thing that I miss so much from the previous versions. Let me explain. I use eloquence as my primary voice profile. For reading with alternate say all feature I used a sapi5 voice for bulgarian language. This was with jaws 8, 9 and 10. Now I see it's not possible. When I try to set the voice for say all to the bulgarian one, it's not in the list. It appears only in the sapi5 profiles. In the settings for eloquence appear only the english voices on my system. I miss this, because using eloquence I read most of the time, but when I need to read bulgarian text, I need to change voice profiles, witch takes more time. It is much faster just to press the keystroke and to read it. I see that now we are choosing the language for the profile, but I think that for say all we should be given the option to choose different language than the main for the profile. My question is, is this done with a purpose or is a bug? Negoslav For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Research It for JAWS 11 (Last securitybuild)notworking
Jaws interacts mainly with the computer, but some of it's modules as update, tandem, research it, authorization need internet access. the firewall controls what software is accessing internet and if a software tries to access your PC. Usually all those modules need to be allowed sepretly through the firewall. If research it asked you for access, but you didn't sea or allow it, it won't function right. First let us know if you have a active firewall and what is it. So jaws may work, but you may expirience some problems as you do now. The firewall may not be the problem, but it's a possibility. Re: [JAWS-Users] Alternate Say All
Personally, I like how the previous versions handeled the alternate voice. You could set the alternate voice to use different language, but in 11 it's difficuld if not impossible If you set the alternate voice in jaws settings just press insert+alt+down arrow. To set it up, here is how from the jaws help. JAWS can immediately switch from one synthesizer, for example, Eloquence Software, to another, such as SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct, when using the Say All command (INSERT+DOWN ARROW). While the default Eloquence voice may be useful for reading and navigating short text such as prior or next line, sentence, or paragraph, it may not be the preferred voice for longer passages of text. The SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct voice chosen remains active during the Say All even as you fast forward, rewind, speed up, or slow down. However, when you stop the Say All, the Eloquence voice returns. Use the following controls in the Say All group to set preferences for how the Say All command works. Speech Synthesizer Use this combo box to select the synthesizer used for Say All. Select either Default, SAPI 5, or RealSpeak Solo Direct. When using Default, all other controls in the Say All group are unavailable. Also, note that RealSpeak Solo Direct is only available if you have downloaded and installed a RealSpeak Solo Direct voice. If the Say All synthesizer is Default, then either SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct will be used for an Alternate Say All (ALT+INSERT+DOWN ARROW). If either SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct is selected, the Default synthesizer is used for Alternate Say All. Rate Use this slider to select a comfortable speech rate for the Say All voice. PAGE DOWN and PAGE UP change the rate of speech by larger increments, while the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys make more gradual changes. Punctuation Use this list to set the punctuation level used by JAWS when the Say All voice speaks. Use the UP or DOWN ARROW keys to select a punctuation level. The options available are None, Some, Most, which is the default, and All. Person The Person combo box lets you to select which SAPI 5 or RealSpeak Solo Direct synthesizer voice to use for Say All. Pitch The Pitch slider allows you to adjust the pitch for the currently selected voice. Note that some SAPI5 and RealSpeak Solo Direct synthesizers do not support pitch change like Eloquence and some other hardware and software synthesizers. Volume Use the slider to increase or decrease the Say All speech volume. The DOWN ARROW , LEFT ARROW, and PAGE DOWN keys decrease volume, and the UP ARROW, RIGHT ARROW, and PAGE UP keys increase volume. OK This button saves any changes made and then closes the Voice Adjustment dialog box. This button is not available when changes are made to any factory default voice profile template. You must use the Save As button to save any changes made to a factory template. Save As Choose this button to save your current voice settings as part of a voice profile. Type a name for your voice profile or select an existing profile from the list. If you select an existing profile, that profile's individual voice settings will be overwritten by the new settings when you choose OK. Apply Use this button to apply and save any changes made to the voice profile settings without exiting the Voice Adjustment dialog box. Cancel When you select this button, any changes you have made are discarded, and the Voice Adjustment dialog box closes. - Original Message - From: Kerryann Ifill k...@caribsurf.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, September 28, 2010 2:07 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Alternate Say All Hi List, Can someone remind me how do I adjust the alternate say all voice? Arrow up or down. Let's say you want to turn the video into an mp3 file, click on audio A menu will open up Arrow down to all to mp3 and click it. turn the pc cursor on and you will be in the dialog. Tab through and add the files or folders and tab through the dialog to choose just what you want. Tab to OK and hit enter. Turn the mouse cursor on and go to the menu bar at the top of the page. Click on tasks A menu wil open so click on start conversion. when it is finished the file will be found in the FFOutput folder in My documents. Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2003 regarding importing account settings
Here is the answer. The import is different from doing this in OE. Hope you have OE on the same computer with outlook 2003. If so: 1. Open MS Outlook 2003; 2. File menu/import and export; 3. When the dialogue opens, arrow down to import internet mail account settings and press next button; 4. In the next window choose microsoft outlook express if it's not selected and press next; 5. In the next window choose the account to import and press next; 6. You just follow the wizard and the settings are already filled in. You just change them if you want. I think only the password should be entered manualy. If outlook 2003 it's on another computer or is on windows 7 system, you have 2 choices: 1. To activate windows mail on windows 7 system and import exported OE account there. Then try to import from outlook. Never tryed it. 2. Install outlook 2003 on the system where OE is. Import the account in outlook and just migrate the outlook pst files on the other system. This are just ideas, but they may work. Re: [JAWS-Users] Removing Page Numbers From Front of Documentin Word2010
You need to do the break for headers and footers separately. If you want different header and footers for odd and even pages you should break the connection for headers and footers of odd and even pages separatly also. You should continue tabbing. May be I misleded you, it is not a link. Jaws pronounces it as checkbox. It is found in the design tab, last in the navigation section, fifth one in the tab order in the section. Or you can just press alt+j+h+k. For me the hotkeys not seem to work consistently and often I go to check if they worked. I want page numbers to start on the seventh page of the document. I have inserted a section break at this point and broken the link to earlier pages. Page numbering does start over at page 1 on the seventh page, as it should. However, the first six pages still have page numbers 1 through 6 on them. According to a little web research, I should be able to go into the footer in the first six pages and delete the page number. When I do this, it removes all page numbers for the entire document. Does anyone know how to do what I want to do? I'm using JAWS 15 with Word 2010. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use JAWS in a Windows XP mode environment. Virtual PC creates a terminal session by default, and JAWS doesn't understand that it's not actually a terminal session; rather a virtual terminal session created by Virtual PC. As a result JAWS thinks you're trying to run it in a terminal session, and therefore will not work and instead display an error message and quits. For the record, other screen readers work, but this is outside the scopes of this list. Sorry about that. You can go to control panel/speech/tts tab and make default the voice you want. Then just do the rest in jaws, turn to sapi5 and it will be used. For additional voice setting go to the jaws menu, options, voices, global adjustment. Havent' used jaws6 for long time, but I think it will be enough for what you want. Also what in the world is an audacity project file and what purpose does it serve? That I have been avoiding as it does not seem to be a requirement. I am not going to even consider becoming overly versed in this program because once I get over these hurtles I'm out the door so to speak. It is accessible but like I said give me gold wave any day, thanks in advance. Hello, This script is interesting to have in jaws 8, but this is what I get when I try to compile: Compile Error Unknown variable OT_NO_Disable OK. Here are instructions for installing and getting the help balloon script to work. this script will make it possible to click help balloons wit one keystroke in versions of jaws prior to jaws nine. Everything below the stars is the script itself. First, select the entire script text and copy it to the clipboard. Then, hit insert f2 and bring up script manager.Once script manager opens, press control shift d to bring up the default script file. Then move to the bottom of it with control end. then, hit enter once or twice to make sure your on a blank line,,and paste the contents of the script. Then move into the body of the script and hit control d. Once you do, a script information dialogue box will appear. Tab through it and fill in the various fields, leaving the script name box intact. You can fill in the synopsis and description fields if you wish. Make sure the can be attached to key checkbox is checked. You can use any keystroke you wish that won't conflict with another keystroke. I used control shift l myself. If screen reading is flaky I sometimes do this and it seems to work as well as using say all and is more reliable than line reading. This key combination should also work in header fields. You could also 1. Press insert plus escape to refresh the screen. This can sometimes resolve the problem. 2. If that does not work also pressing the start button twice and navigating back to word can sometimes help. 3. Alt tabbing away from and back to window can also help. 4. Make sure that your windows are maximised. 5. Make sure that no task panes are open. Close these down. 6. Unload and reload Jaws if none of the above helps. In your position though I would probably repair or reinstall Jaws 8 and make sure that default settings are chosen. . Also make sure that recommended Windows settings for Jaws are set up. That is colours, classic start menu and list folder views etc. You may have to forgo configuration files and configure Jaws to your liking again.
