Well, I was doing some "experimenting" (which is what I do when I don't have a clue) and discovered that version 1.56 of "jde-ant.el" works just fine for me, but version 1.57 doesn't. Looking at the diff, the only change is the normalization of "jde-ant-program". Interestingly enough, 1.57 fails for a different reason than 1.58.
