Lots of vendors are no longer supporting JDO, and a large number of JDO users are moving to JPA. JPA is technically inferior if compared to JDO spec, but has great support from J2EE vendors. In case you are interested in helping the evolution of JDO, you should join the JDO expert group or an open source implementation, named JPOX
