I have done some testing here and I see quite different behavior with
Chrome:
action when I pull finger toward myself.
+ means what I expect (molecule becomes bigger)
also in HTML5: (event.detail event.wheelDelta buttonModifiers)

Chrome / Mac:
(I reported the Safari/Mac/HTML5 reversed.)
OK: Now this is:
