This happens to me too! It's like the computer doesn't track the movements of
my stylus whenever it's over the canvas. This makes it nearly impossible to
draw anything.

I found something to resolve it. Did not find the cause, but it did help.
I removed this directory
~/.local/share/kxmlgui5
then kdenlive started regularly, with menus.
