FWIW, on my hardware (2020 10th gen Intel i7 with HD610 iGPU driving a 4K
screen) the issue is completely resolved for me, at least until the system is
under heavy load--when I think some stuttering it expected.

Just tried with an i5-1035g1 under wayland with its gpu that should be far more
performant than my haswell, but still on the logout screen mouse cursor was

It's even worse on llvmpipe. My laptop fell back to llvmpipe after an update
now for some reason, and it runs at about 1-2 FPS.

There's a tri-state based on whether it's enabled in user settings but not
enabled by the compositor or something.
