I haven't reviewed the fully proposal, but in general I like the idea of using
the same mechanism as the syscalls for instrumenting these more complex

Small update: I'm now considering a different approach that's more similar to
the way system calls are handled. Instead of calling a dirty helper, we would
have the dispatcher call a guest-specific extension and
