[ktorrent] [Bug 362011] New: Drag and drop of URLs from Chromium does not work

2016-04-20 Thread Luke-Jr via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362011

Bug ID: 362011
Summary: Drag and drop of URLs from Chromium does not work
   Product: ktorrent
   Version: 5.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: joris.guis...@gmail.com
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org

Drag & drop of links from Chromium seems to get corrupted at some point.

Also tested:
- Drag and drop Chromium links to other Qt5 application (pcmanfm-qt): works
fine
- Drag and drop directory from pcmanfm-qt: works as expected (error that it's
not a torrent file, with the full correct path name)
- Drag and drop Chromium links to other KF5 application (Konversation): works
fine

It seems only the specific combination of Chromium to KTorrent fails.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/ in Chromium.
2. Drag "14.04 image, 64bit" BitTorrent link to KTorrent.

Actual Results:
Got errors: "Malformed URL %001%004%00.%000%004%00 %00i%00m%00a%00g%00e%00,%00
%006%004%00b%00i%00t." and "Malformed URL ."

Expected Results:
Prompt to start download of torrent file.

This worked fine in 4.3.1.

Git commit 31195a85a054e50af2d61ae764f341db12190f1e by Dmitry Kazakov.
Committed on 20/04/2016 at 20:03.
Pushed by dkazakov into branch 'master'.

Fix a "bended lines"+AMD+Qt5.6 bug

The bug is actually in Qt 5.6. They decided to implement a motion event
compression without *any* way to disable it. So we have a lot of events
dropped resulting in "bended lines" on canvas.

For some reason the bug is reproducible on AMD GPUs only, with openGL
activated. It seems like either Qt asks for some synchronization, or
rendering on AMD is just too slow. I don't know the exact reason,
but being busy with rendering makes Qt drop a lot of events.

Since this event compression cannot be disabled in any official way, we
should start patching Qt on Linux as well. Yes, it means that Krita 3.0
cannot be distributed through official distribution repositories. Which
means that Krita Lime will have to be shut down as soon as Ubuntu 16.04
will upgrade to Qt 5.6.

If show sched status is called before the threads are implemented, then nothing
will be
visible.
Maybe it would be better to do something like:

   if (VG_(threads) == NULL) {
VG_(printf) ("cannot show sched status : scheduler not yet
initialised\");
  return;
  }
... here the old code ...
rather than report nothing ?

[kwin] [Bug 361933] Screen is corrupted on the fading-out

2016-04-20 Thread Thomas Lübking via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361933

This somehow looks like a corruption in the plasmashell context (gkrellm looks
translucent but w/o impact on the artifact structure)

Can you please leave some opaque window (empty kwrite will do) open when
logging out and take a screenshot of that?

The trigger though is most likely the full scene blur filter in the logout
effect - add

[Effect-Logout]
UseBlur=false

somewhere in ~/.config/kwinrc (resp. alter a present entry, if any)

2016-04-20 Thread Luke-Jr via KDE Bugzilla

In my case, I still run KDE 4, with a few KF5-based applications. If
KWin/Plasma 5 will require KWayland, I will probably switch to LXQt when KDE 4
ceases to be viable. LXQt, however, still requires libkscreen.

@RJVB: how did you succeed in practice?

I tried compiling the clazy plugin on Mac OS X after installing cmake and llvm
with brew:

brew install cmake
brew install brew install llvm —with-clang —with-clang-extra-tools

And using cmake this way:

cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr/local/bin -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release
-DLLVM_ROOT=/usr/local/opt/llvm

But I found very similar (if not exatly the same) linking issues. Any help is
appreciated.
Thanks.

On Ubuntu or Debian, you need to install plasma-workspace package to fix this.
The relevant file which is missing is
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kded_ktimezoned.so (substitute your
computer's architecture for 'x86_64-linux-gnu' if it doesn't have an AMD64 type
processor).

Clearly, there should be a package dependency for the KF5 version of kalarm on
plasma-workspace (or alternatively the kded_ktimezoned.so file may need to be
split out into another package). This is something that needs to be fixed by
the Ubuntu packagers (and probably the Debian experimental packagers also).

[dolphin] [Bug 362013] New: Remove emblem icons at <=22px view size

2016-04-20 Thread Uri Herrera via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362013

Bug ID: 362013
Summary: Remove emblem icons at <=22px view size
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 15.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: uri_herr...@nitrux.in

Emblems are literally indistinguishable at this size in any icon theme
including Breeze and Oxygen and the size it's so small that it makes it nearly
impossible to create a meaningful icon in the size it's probably requiring
them, I'm estimating that it's 8px or less.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Dolphin
2. Change to Icon view
3. Move slider to 22px

Actual Results:
Indistinguishable emblem icons.

Expected Results:
No emblem icons.

Hi, Tyson!

Did you compile Qt yourself or you use the system's one? Qt 5.4.2, right?

The point is that the real cause of bended lines was introduced in Qt 5.6. But
if you say that Qt 5.4.2 is also affected, then it starts looking a bit too
weird :)

If enabled with cmake command line option BUILD_ICONS and/or BUILD_CURSOR_ICONS
icons and cursor bitmaps are rendered from svg sources by a qt helper
application named svg2png automatically on building umbrello.

Cursor bitmaps are combination of a cursor template svg file and regular
umbrello icons. The cursor template svg file is added by this patch too.

For debugging purpose the additional cmake variable
BUILD_ICONS_INTO_SIZE_RELATED_DIRS
is available.

[konversation] [Bug 361989] New: UI very slow/high CPU/unresponsive

2016-04-20 Thread Luke-Jr via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361989

Bug ID: 361989
   Summary: UI very slow/high CPU/unresponsive
   Product: konversation
   Version: 1.6
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konversation-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: luke-jr+kdeb...@utopios.org

UI changes seem to be slow and use 100% CPU for (often) seconds. Changing tabs
with Alt- takes about a full second. Scrolling the chat seems to respond
within under a second (but noticably delayed) often, but still maxes out the
CPU while being dragged. Scrolling the channel list is very slow dragging the
scrollbar, and often slow even clicking in the opposite end of the scrollbar
(but other times instantaneous).

In contrast, KTorrent 5.0 (KF5-based) has no noticeable UI delays.

2016-04-20 Thread Artur O . via KDE Bugzilla

If you need something easy case to test with;
https://www.epicgames.com/unrealtournament/forums/forumdisplay.php?57-Linux
atleast with chromium you can hover on _thread name_ and _thread op_ in the
forum to quickly see the morph doing its work.

Systemload (if you have many cores) and some smaller tooltop morphing from (big
-> small) shows that it morphs to the smaller one but content for the new
tooltip shows up during that time stretching it.

Again its polish thing and thanks for this effect, really gave KDE/Plasma a
more smooth feeling.

[plasmashell] [Bug 361994] New: 100 % cpu usage and 5GB of ram used when plug in the laptop on the docking station

2016-04-20 Thread Foued via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 361994
Summary: 100 % cpu usage and 5GB of ram used when plug in the

   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Multi-screen support
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: foufoulevil...@gmail.com

Each time I put the laptop in suspend mode (by closing laptop lid) and plug it
on the docking station (Dell E6440) the cpu rise to 100% usage on a single core
and use 5GB of rss.

The only way to fix this is to kill plasmashell process and restart it manually

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put laptop in suspend mode by closing lid
2. plug it to docking station
3. open lid

Actual Results:
100% of cpu usage and around 5 to 6 GB bytes of ram used

Expected Results:
normal CPU usage (between 0 to 10%) and normal RAM usage (around 250 MB)

I have 2 screens plugged on the docking station : one VGA (1920 x 1080) and one
DVI but it appears as HDMI in display configuration (1920 x 1200)

Rendering issue Plasma Panel

I'm not 100% sure if this is related but also happens after fullscreen games
for me it seems and also noticed it after 5.6 update.

Toggling composting with ctrl+shift+F12 the panel switches betwen these two
states. One when effects are on (updated) and effects off (frozen).

Hovering over the frozen panel shows tooltips of the (updated) panel. Ie you
can hover over something and get a tooltip from a different application.

Also if you see the screenshot you see a standard X window icon, thats the Dota
2 icon.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359077

> Perhaps the issue is how big or small the icon is within this frame.

Yes. But not only that. Actually the size of the icon is a consequence of frame
size. Just notice the space below icon title "Konsole" and on the left and on
the right side of the icon on attached "Plasma 5 icon frame size" screenshot.
It also causes the space between icons much bigger than necessary because of
this wider frame. In this screenshot Home and Trash could be closer to each
other if frame wasn't so wide.

I reported this bug because I find the way it was in KDE 4 much better. Icons
in KDE 4 were closer to each other.

As our friend wolfi323 says here
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=289=130931 the frame of the icons is
hardcoded. I take it that he is right there.
But perhaps that is not at all the issue here. Perhaps the issue is how big or
small the icon is within this frame.
Perhaps the answer to that question is hardcoded too but I don't know at all if
that is the case.

[ktorrent] [Bug 361997] New: can't resume torrent from system tray icon

2016-04-20 Thread Ed Hamilton via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361997

Bug ID: 361997
Summary: can't resume torrent from system tray icon
   Product: ktorrent
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: joris.guis...@gmail.com
  Reporter: edhamilt...@gmail.com

I can suspend seeding by right clicking on the icon in the system tray. But
when I try to restart seeding by right clicking on that icon nothing happens. I
then restore ktorrent in its window and right click "Start" or "Force Start".
Nothing happens. I kill ktorrent and restart it and it is not seeding. If I
then right click "Start" or "Force Start" nothing happens. The app never
crashes, but it never resumes seeding.

My first attempt to fix it was to replace the entire ~/.local/share/ktorrent/
folder with a backup. But that didn't work.

Next I restored from a backup the ~/.config/ktorrentrc file and ktorrent worked
as desired.

In the following "diff" command, I named the file that doesn't work
ktorrent.problems and the one that works kept its proper name. Using "meld"
shows that the lines referring to suspend are in the section called
[QueueManager], and the line describing the state is in the section called
[TrackerView]. I've added the section names to the output of "diff".

[ed@arch /working]# diff ktorrentrc.problems ~/.config/ktorrentrc

42,43c42
[QueueManager]
< suspended=true
< suspended_torrents=99016b8d8b5a44c64955dbd337259b3b18430fc4
---
> suspended=false
66c65
[TrackerView]
<
state=/wABAQABA3UGAQEAAQAAAGT/gQAGAAABgQEAZAEAZAEAZAEAZAEAZAED6AA=
---
> state=/wABAQABBEUGAQEAAQAAAGT/gQAGAAABgQEAZAEAZAEAZAEAZAEBNAED6AA=

So evidently ktorrent is not changing the state of the torrent when I try to do
so using the system tray icon.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. has happened both times I tried it, as described above in details.
2.
3.

as mentioned, restoring the ~/.config/ktorrentrc from a backup enables ktorrent
to work again correctly.
By the way, I am almost positive this happened the first time using ktorrent
4.x and the system tray icon. The 5.0 version just hit the repository
yesterday.
today's configuration
plasmashell --version
plasmashell 5.6.2
ktorrent --version
ktorrent 5.0.1
uname -sr
Linux 4.5.0-1-ARCH

A note regarding severity as requested below: I don't know if this rates as
normal or minor. The workaround is easy if the user figures out what file to
restore and has a backup or, possibly, edits the ktorrentrc file. I didn't try
editing the file. But that doesn't seem like something you would want most
users to have to do.

So are you making your own MPris enabled app?
Do you have a link to it? (ideally a version that crashes plasma)

Do you still have the d-feet log?

It definitely isn't coming from the qDBusRegister itself, but rather when you
emit something it may end up with a different signature.

(please reopen the bug to unconfirmed when you reply)

Seems probability of occurrence is much higher in case the moved window is not
the last one in tak manager, but the first one (in which case the relocation is
causing shift of other task manager items).

Regretfully, I cannot. The whole point of KF/Plasma is to be more modular, not
less, in aid of KDE's sponsored purpose as a showcase for Qt.
As such, inverted coupling like this, to wit insisting on wayland support from
the platform in question, is contrary to the aims of the overall project, and
the clear direction set by core developers for the design.
Even were it not, inverted coupling is ALWAYS a no-no, apart from the
occasional exception for OS-vendor platform-specific implementation of a
standard (at the level of using an implementation-defined path for the sh
interpreter.)

WRT "lists of bugs" are you speaking as a bug-wrangler, or a developer?
No-one wants to add unnecessary work, but this appears to be an issue with
bug-wrangling support, which is orthogonal to architectural goals for the SC.

Stating that the split can only "be done in the binary packages" can in no way
be seen as modularity at the source level.

Luke's patch is at: http://luke.dashjr.org/tmp/code/no-kwayland.patch
Comment or review, before we apply and use it downstream, would be most
appreciated.

@Adam Kubuntu developers are doing what they can to make system stable and fix

you know this bug is fixed in Xenial and it is strongly recommended to update
to LTS when it is released (tomorrow) as it will also get new Plasma etc.

[plasmashell] [Bug 361674] X11 damage events not generated when the desktop is exposed

I have code to do the n to n-1 comparison, I was using damage events as it
seemed like it would be more efficient. Unfortunately it also seems like a less
reliable way to keep track of all change. I have stopped using damage events as
from what you have said there is no way to guarantee that that they will show
all change on a display, and when compositing is active they don't provide much
useful information anyway.

I'm not sure what you want to do with this bug. If you feel it's not actually a
bug as the desktop is not required to emit damage events when it is exposed
(because as you say, it's likely it hasn't actually changed behind the window
covering it), then go ahead and close it. I opened it as it was a difference in
behaviour from what I have seen in KDE4 and various other desktop environments.
