Another hint: xeyes (which AFAIK, doesn't use GL at all) doesn't render
properly either.
This is probably a sign that the problem is xwayland instead of an nvidia
driver issue.

I've been able to reproduce this black screen for flatpaks too by removing the
wayland permission, thereby forcing it to use X11. Seems like an xwayland

kwin thinks xwayland should get the mouse, x doesn't have a window there that
