I can reproduce this issue on the latest KDE Neon. I have a ThinkPad X270 with
an i5-7200U CPU/GPU.
But even on the older Qt, just enabling the slideshow put plasma around 5-10%
CPU use. Now that I disabled it (the slideshow was one of the first thing I
configured after the install), all CPU usage from plasma disappeared.
