under Ubuntu, I've update DK to 5.6, instead of using the appimage.
The geotagged images do appear (with the same lack of responsiveness as under
Mageia).

On Mageia DK 5.6 shows the geotagged pictures on the map. But it is far slower
than DK 5.6 under windows (30 sec against 5sec to display a bloc of 6000
