In a sense, yes. Restarting akonadi does work, but it doesn't actually prevent
the problem from arising. I don't face

Mail from comment #13 has no Date: field, and as such is not a valid mail
according to the RFC.
What we need is a mail that has a valid Date: field, but shows up as 'Unknown'.
