[Bug 302546] New: Creating Search folder for new mails and activating mark as read after misbehaves
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302546 Bug ID: 302546 Severity: normal Version: 4.8.4 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Creating Search folder for new mails and activating mark as read after misbehaves Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: phob...@fastmail.fm Hardware: Ubuntu Packages Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: folders Product: kmail2 Creating a Search folder for filtering/searching new mails and having the option mark as read after * sec. is misbehaving, rendering the search folder useless. By Misbehaving i mean that the moment you click on a message and it is marked as read, it disappears from the list(no matter if it is selected or not), which is an expected behavior, but in this particular case it is a wrong one. I have just migrated from Evolution, and they have this case resolved very friendly (both in Evo 2.x and 3.x). The same virtual folder (which filters all new mail), when one selects the message and it is marked as read, it stays in the folder till: - if it is selected - always until you leave the folder - if a new mail arrives AND the message is not selected - if you leave the search folder Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Turn the option of mark mail as read after ... sec on. Lets say you make it 0 sec so you can see what i am having in mind 2. Create a Search folder with the only condition to search for messages which status is Unread 3. When couple of new messages arrive go to the search folder and select the first message Actual Results: All the messages will be selected one after another, marked read and disappearing. They disappear no matter if a message is selected or not. Expected Results: The messages to stay in that Search folder until: - the user leaves the search folder - if a message is selected - always to stay in the folder (until the folder is left) - if a message is not selected - remove from the folder when new mail arrives A workaround this problem is NOT to check the Mark messages as read after ... sec, but this makes this option useless and one needs to mark every message as read manually. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

In bug #298887 I mentioned that the issue has been resolved in Akonadi Google 0.3.1 (and bug #297824 is FIXED-IN 0.3.1), yet you reported this crash against 0.3 again. It's not surprising you keep experiencing the crash if you are still using old version...version of KDE is really not related Nothing of this really matters now though, because month or two ago, the project Akonadi Google has been split into two parts: the Akonadi Google Resources nad LibKGoogle - The Akonadi resources are now part of kdepim-runtime and will be shipped with KDE 4.9 (but are still available unofficially in a standalone git repository in /scratch/dvratil/akonadi-google-resources). - LibKGoogle is now called LibKGAPI and it's a standalone project on http://projects.kde.org/libkgoogle (the repository is to be renamed yet). Either notify your distribution maintainers to provide akonadi-google 0.3.1 and wait for KDE 4.9 to come with more bugfixes in the Akonadi Google resources (then you can throw akonadi-google away), or ask them to package LibKGAPI (currently in version 0.4.1) and a snapshot from the git repo mentioned above. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 302590] New: Kontact crashed after killing virtuoso
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302590 Bug ID: 302590 Severity: crash Version: 4.8.3 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Kontact crashed after killing virtuoso Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: pand...@inwind.it Hardware: Fedora RPMs Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: general Product: kontact Application: kontact (4.8.3) KDE Platform Version: 4.8.3 (4.8.3) Qt Version: 4.8.2 Operating System: Linux 3.4.3-1.fc17.x86_64 x86_64 Distribution: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: I was looking to get the source of a problem of Kontact being stuck. This is what happened: [19:08] panda84kde hi everybody. Can anybody help me to debug a problem I currently have with Kontact? The Kontact (4.8.3) GUI got stuck and wasn't responding. I force closed it and restarted again, but the GUI doesn't open up anymore. [19:09] panda84kde I've tried starting it from command line and the only output I get is loaded the Generic plugin and nothing more. [19:09] panda84kde te [19:09] dfaure when you close it, does it really completely terminate? check with Ctrl+Esc, that it's not running anymore [19:10] vkrause a hanging Nepomuk query service could cause that [19:11] panda84kde dfaure: thanks. yes, by force close i mean kill it. no process opened [19:12] panda84kde vkrause: how can I check if I have a hanging Nepomuk query service? [19:14] vkrause try running qdbus org.kde.nepomuk.services.nepomukqueryservice /nepomukqueryservice, if that hangs as well, that's the problem [19:15] vkrause if it works the only other way to be sure is backtrace on kontact or stopping nepomuk temporarily [19:17] panda84kde no, that command doesn't hang: http://pastebin.com/hfRiHixT [19:17] panda84kde ok, I'll install Kontact debug symbols and see what's going on. [19:19] panda84kde gdb and Kontact debug symbols. anything else I may need? [19:20] dfaure debug symbols for all underlying libs [19:21] dfaure (akonadi, kdepimlibs, kdepim, kdelibs, soprano ...) [19:21] vkrause I doubt that much detail will be needed for a first run [19:21] vkrause I still suspect a sync dbus call to nepomuk, should be visible already without all that [19:23] panda84kde dfaure: yes, I've run Fedora's debuginfo-install kdepim which should install everything that's needed (no disk space problem), around 900MB [19:23] dfaure fun [19:24] panda84kde vkrause: anything else I could try before going the gdb road? [19:24] vkrause stop nepomuk/virtuoso and try again, if it still hangs it's something else [19:25] panda84kde ok [19:25] vkrause ie. if it still hangs then we really need a fully detailed backtrace [19:54] panda84kde vkrause: i've stopped nepomuk from systemsettings, but still Kontact doesn't start. I still see some nepomuk processes anyway. Should I kill them? [20:02] panda84kde vkrause, dfaure: as soon as I killed virtuoso process, Kontact started immediately. The epilogue is that Kontact started correctly, but just after clicking on a folder, Kontact crashed with this backtrace. -- Backtrace: Application: Kontact (kontact), signal: Segmentation fault Using host libthread_db library /lib64/libthread_db.so.1. 82T_PSEUDO (SYSCALL_SYMBOL, SYSCALL_NAME, SYSCALL_NARGS) [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0x7fc833cb6880 (LWP 1475))] Thread 3 (Thread 0x7fc826938700 (LWP 1476)): #0 pthread_cond_wait@@GLIBC_2.3.2 () at ../nptl/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/x86_64/pthread_cond_wait.S:166 #1 0x7fc84a82077d in WTF::TCMalloc_PageHeap::scavengerThread (this=0x7fc84b20a9a0) at wtf/FastMalloc.cpp:2495 #2 0x7fc84a820889 in WTF::TCMalloc_PageHeap::runScavengerThread (context=optimized out) at wtf/FastMalloc.cpp:1618 #3 0x7fc845615d14 in start_thread (arg=0x7fc826938700) at pthread_create.c:309 #4 0x7fc8448ba99d in clone () at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/x86_64/clone.S:115 Thread 2 (Thread 0x7fc826037700 (LWP 1477)): #0 0x7fffda1f3827 in clock_gettime () #1 0x7fc8429de10d in __GI_clock_gettime (clock_id=optimized out, tp=optimized out) at ../sysdeps/unix/clock_gettime.c:116 #2 0x7fc8458fb4a4 in do_gettime (frac=0x7fc826036aa8, sec=0x7fc826036aa0) at tools/qelapsedtimer_unix.cpp:123 #3 qt_gettime () at tools/qelapsedtimer_unix.cpp:140 #4 0x7fc8459ced0d in QTimerInfoList::updateCurrentTime (this=this@entry=0x7fc820002860) at kernel/qeventdispatcher_unix.cpp:343 #5 0x7fc8459cf053 in QTimerInfoList::timerWait (this=0x7fc820002860, tm=...) at kernel/qeventdispatcher_unix.cpp:450 #6 0x7fc8459cdbcc in timerSourcePrepareHelper (src=optimized out, timeout=0x7fc826036b7c) at kernel/qeventdispatcher_glib.cpp:136 #7 0x7fc8423aa1ef in g_main_context_prepare (context=context@entry=0x7fc829a0, priority=priority@entry=0x7fc826036bc8) at gmain.c:2836 #8 0x7fc8423aa8db in g_main_context_iterate
