[Bug 305966] New: changing message state leads to 2-3sec 40% CPU abuse by virtuoso-t

2012-08-29 Thread Anders Lund
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305966

Bug ID: 305966
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.9.0
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: changing message state leads to 2-3sec 40% CPU abuse
by virtuoso-t
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: and...@alweb.dk
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
 Component: misc
   Product: kmail2

With mail indexing enabled, I can search my mail. But the cost is high, looking
at CPU usage and in turn battery life. When any attribute of a mail is changed,
enough CPU is used to start the fan :0

This includes marking as read, setting a flag etc.

It must be possible to change only one little data, instead of reindexing the
entrie mail (I'm just guessing that that is what happens)

This may not happen on a stronger hardware, but on my netbook this is bad,
means it will be a bad idea to run kmail while on battery

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. receive mail
2. wait untill the initial indexing of the new mail is done
3. go to an unread mail
Actual Results:
2-3 seconds of virtuoso-t using 35% CPU
fan starts

Expected Results:
mail getting marked as read without such noise

Produced what is in the Expected Results box above ;)

One thought is that the file indexing never runs while on battery. Maybe it
would be clever to do the same with mail indexing?

[Bug 305969] New: search folder is allways said to contain #results unread mails

2012-08-29 Thread Anders Lund

Status: NEW
 Component: folders
   Product: kmail2

After doing a search, the search folder is set to contain unread mails, even
though it does not (nessecarily). The messages in there can not be set to read,
since they already are, and folder-mark all messages as read have no effect.
When navigating using the + shortcut to go to next unread message, the search
folder is then always visited, even though there are no unread messages in it.

There is a possible relation with bug 302546.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. do a search
Actual Results:
search folder wrongly appears to have #results unread messages

Expected Results:
search folder should have a true number of read messages

I'm trying to send a mail to a larger amount of recipients. The good news is
that the number of recipients can be edited, but:
- number of recipients: No number larger than 500 can be entered. This is not
sufficient. IMHO this feature should be removed in total, or increased to .
- when selecting the whole address book (marking the first entry, shift
marking last entry) it seems that users with multiple addresses are not counted
correctly, e.g.
 Jack User
 |- j...@user.com
 |- jack.u...@user.com
is counted as three lines (users). This is in so far a problem as if you run
into the a.m. limitation (500 users), the amount of selected addresses is
counted 1/3 too high - In fact you have just selected 2 mailaddresses, and not
three
- there is no (easy) way to search for one address in the recipients field (in
order to remove this address

[Bug 305987] New: Could not create collection when adding new top-level mailbox for IMAP account:

2012-08-29 Thread Nick Leverton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305987

Bug ID: 305987
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.9.0
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Could not create collection when adding new
top-level mailbox for IMAP account:
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: n...@leverton.org
  Hardware: Ubuntu Packages
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: folders
   Product: kmail2

To reproduce:

Configure an IMAP resource (doesn't seem to matter whether online or
disconnected, This issue occurs with both Exchange IMAP and Dovecot IMAP).

Right click on the account's top-level folder and choose Add folder

Expected result:

New mailbox is created on the IMAP server and on the local resource.

Actual result:

New folder is created on the IMAP server but does not appear locally. Akonadi
repeatedly gives an error Could not create collection.

Akonadi error log contains repeated entries :
Error during executing query INSERT INTO CollectionTable (remoteId,
remoteRevision, name, parentId, resourceId, cachePolicyInherit) VALUES (:0, :1,
:2, :3, :4, :5) : Duplicate entry '189-DovecotTopLevel' for key
'CollectionTable_parentAndNameIndex' QMYSQL3: Unable to execute statement

the 189 and the DovecotTopLevel string obviously vary depending on parent ID
and name of created mailbox.

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 305990] New: Kontact-4.8.3 does not show all upcoming birthdays in the summary list (some are missing)

2012-08-29 Thread Christian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305990

Bug ID: 305990
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.8.3
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Kontact-4.8.3 does not show all upcoming birthdays in
the summary list (some are missing)
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: joulupukin.ton...@yandex.ru
  Hardware: Gentoo Packages
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: summary
   Product: kontact

I've configured the summary list to show the upcoming birthdays in the next 31
days as part of the Summary view under Special dates. However, for some
contacts the birthdays are not shown there. In particular, I have a contact who
has a birthday in 12 days - the birthday is shown correctly in the Addressbook
entry for that contact. There are birthdays in the summary list from the same
addressbook, both including earlier and later dates, but this one contact's
birthday is missing in the list. There may be other contacts whose birthdays
are not shown - I don't know.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kontact and look at the summary view.

Actual Results:
The birthdays list in the Special dates section is incomplete.

Expected Results:
It should show all the birthdays that happen in the interval specified in the
corresponding configuration section.

Oddly enough, the birthday does show up in the list of upcoming events of the
Kontact summary view. (I don't know why that list shows birthdays at all, they
are not Events in my calendar.) That's how I can see that the birthday in
question is missing on the Special dates summary.

Kmail2 editor does not comply with RfC 822 and uses only lf instead of
cr-lf at the end of a line. Especially in quoted-printable and MIME
Extensions

See:

RfC 822, 2045 Point 2.10. Lines

[Bug 306005] New: kmail2 is not compliant with RfC 822 in end of line handling, CR (0x0D) is droped

2012-08-29 Thread Thomas Arend
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306005

Bug ID: 306005
  Severity: major
   Version: 4.9.0
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: kmail2 is not compliant with RfC 822 in end of line
handling, CR (0x0D) is droped
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: tho...@arend-rhb.de
  Hardware: openSUSE RPMs
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: composer
   Product: kmail2

Kmail2 handles the end of line (EOL) not in compliance the RfC 822. All CR
(0x0D) are dropped.

Although in 7Bit plain/text attachments the CR is dropped. This can cause a
signature to to fail.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a message in the composer
2. Send message
3. Save outgoing message in mbox format
or receive message with kmail2 or another mail client.
4. view source code with hex editor / hexdump

Actual Results:
Other mail clients have difficulties to interpret the message - especially
signed multi part messages.
Attachments are corrupted by kmail2.

Verification of signatures may fail.

Expected Results:
Instead of a LF the EOL should be signaled by the CR LF sequence ( 0x0D, 0x0A )

kmail2 should comply to RfC 822.

Attachments should not be altered by mail clients.

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Have sorted out spam from non-spam on recently installed system. This has taken
a long time and Kmail is working very hard on this simple task. (Spam-detecting
definitely is not the favorite thing for this programme.)

Few minutes later tried to open one mail by double-click. Took a long time to
open but succeded.
Closed every open mail-window after had read it.

Same procedure with the fifth e-mail led to nirvana. After five minutes waiting
closed Kmail, which then crashed.

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.
