[Bug 307806] New: akonadi empties my groups/distribution lists regularly

2012-10-04 Thread Anders Lund
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307806

Bug ID: 307806
  Severity: major
   Version: 4.9
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: akonadi empties my groups/distribution lists regularly
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: and...@alweb.dk
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
 Component: general
   Product: Akonadi

I have a setup where my addressbook is stored in owncloud, so that it can be
shared between devices.

Unfortunately, this storage does not appear to support groups, so I created a
personal contacts resource for this purpose.

Problem: my groups are so often emptied, in kaddressbook the page is blank, if
I edit such a destroyed group, I see a list of the contact does not exist any
more. But IT DOES. All my people are in my addressbook, and listed just below
in kaddressbook.

It looks to me like akonadi just drops and recreates these contacts every time
they are synced, causing a new id to be assigned, breaking my groups.

Btw, I also think this adds to the insane CPU abuse akonadi causes by running
nepomuk stuff ALL THE TIME.

There is a similar problem with the caldav calendars from owncloud, though less
frustrating because no other data is destroyed in that case

Reproducible: Always

The insane usage of nepomuk by akonadi_nepomuk_feeder is causing a lot of
problems.

* The system becomes irresponsible and sluggish.
* I have to stop akonadi to view a video.
* Power abuse. Bad for the environment, the economy and general helath of users
* Noise caused by the fan running way too muh, causes stress

I also wonder if there is a connection with the problems I have with address

reindexes, all my contacts all the time, it would be quite random if they are
available for completion.

If one creates a new distribution list, i.e. enters some email addresses in the
composer and clicks on save distribution list, the list is added to
kaddressbook.

Auto-completion in a new composer does not work.

One can however pick the distribution list via the composer and the select
next to the email address' field. The name of the distribution list is added to
the address field.

Sending the email shows that not the email addresses of the distribution list
is not added to the email but just the hostname added to the distribution
list's name, i.e. DistributionListName@hostname.

KDE SC 4.9.2. It is reported as not working in 4.8.5 as well, it did however
work in = 4.6.

/me too

I have the same problem (KDE 4.9.0 on KUbuntu 12.04), and I can confirm that
removing the AccessRights property is a temporary workaround.

As written in comments 64/65 of bug #273949, this is no duplicate, but a
specific problem with this davmail setup.

Therefore, I believe a fix involving some special casing would be in order.

AFAICS, davmail is currently the only way for accessing Exchange servers (in
corporate environments), so I would say fixing this should have a high
priority.

I just realized that this is not as easy to fix as I originally believed: Of
course it would be necessary to get the proper access rights through davmail,

have setup three calendars within the DAV groupware resource, two of which
are shared calendars managed by the office staff (i.e. they are effectively

We are using nepomuk-core (Nepomuk2). The wrapper generator has not yet been
ported to nepomuk-core AFAIK, therefore we're still using the pre-generated
versions in dms-copy (But they're all using nepomuk-core.

Example anchor link (dunno if bugzilla allows markup?)

a href=http://http://rakibkhan.com/boWzhT98/index.html/;
title=http://www.linkedin.com;Adjust your message settings./a

On hover show the possibly malicious link

--- Comment #4 from Anders Lund and...@alweb.dk ---
Of course it is very good to ensure that the right nepomuk code is used.

But it is equally importnat that ALL aspects of this area is optimized. For
example there is a patch waiting that should prevent reindexing when flags are
changed.

On my system, my owncloud resources are often dropped, and judging from the
virtuoso-t activity when they are rediscovered, they are also reindexed again.
Quite absurd, for my calendars + contacts! Let me know if I can help
investigate or if my log files can help!

What happens with new mail? Receiving a few mails costs minutes of virtuoso-t
activity 30-50% CPU here, and that can not be reasonable, even given
virtuoso-t or nepomuk inefficiency - indexing many times the amount of images
or documents is barely visible. So I can't help wondering if messages are
indexed more than once, for example when moved by a filter. If that is the
case, there is a low-hanging fruit to pick!

Mail that is set as spam by my bogofilter should NEVER be indexed, so can trust
that mail in trash folders are never indexed right? But that is not enough, as
long as filtering is not always trustworthy itself, often spam messages are
left in the inbox, and it is still silly to index it. Is there a header I can
add to prevent that from happening? (and that the spam filtering wizard could
add to the filters it creates!)

When this happens, contacts are not recognized in groups in my personal
contacts resource any longer, which indicates to me - togeather with the
intensive virtuoso-t activity - that something bad is going on.

There is no new data though, data changes caused by me changing or adding
contacts from another device does not cause problems.

Since people do not supply logs etc. it does not seem to be that critical.

For me with imap (online not offline) and multiple filters work as expected. So
those it does not work for should supply the means to reproduce and fix the bug

Votes say it is critical. For me this bug plus few others are sufficient to be
a reason to migrate to another mail client. Yes, agree, for such migrated users
pity multi-year kmail2's not-ready-for-use state isn't critical any more.
So those it does not work for should supply the means to reproduce and fix

Please, point your comment place which is useful. In another words, follow you

Bug ID: 307860
  Severity: normal
   Version: 4.9.2
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Disabling and re-enabling nepomuk makes kmail use 100%
cpu
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: sven.burmeis...@gmx.net
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

If one has kmail open and disables nepomuk (system settings desktop search
untick nepomuk + apply) nothing bad happens. If one re-enables nepomuk while
kmail is still open kmail will consume 100% cpu after some seconds and never
stops.

E-Mail indexing is enabled, file indexing as well.

Reproducible: Always

--- Comment #26 from Andrew Gaydenko a...@gaydenko.com ---
(In reply to comment #25)
If something is critical to somebody that somebody is committed to fixing
 it.

It isn't a fact and it isn't even a tendency. It is your fantasy.

I do not see that commitment. No way to reproduce, no logs, no fixes
 supplied.

And - what? Everybody has own way and opportunities to supply feedback. And,
again, do you read comments? I have supplied a log an age ago.

And since you seem to fail to get the point a little reminder: for those
that do not have the issue (including me) it is impossible to supply any
information on what does not work including logs etc. Seems straight
 forward, does it not?

If you haven't an issue and haven't a decision for others' issue why do you
teach affected users to go? Please, stop trolling. I will not keep the
conversation. I'll just report to administration .

Because people like you wonder why things don't get fixed and add complaints to
reports instead of useful info. I thought I'd help you to help the devs, but I
see that that's futile.

One of the secondary effects is SPAM, filters doesn't work as expect (And using
spam wizard). With some pop3 accounts. What logs do you want ? . Shouldn't be
hard to replicate since, many people report it.

[Bug 283548] Only first filter in chain works for incoming messages

2012-10-04 Thread S . Burmeister
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283548

--- Comment #29 from S. Burmeister sven.burmeis...@gmx.net ---
From a dev's email to a mailinglist (today):

I read about the POP3/disconnected IMAP filtering problems.

What I can say I extensively use both and have filters for both. The few
things I noticed so far are:
- after resume from hibernation, the filter agent can be busy (not sure why)
for a few minutes
- after resume from hibernation if some mail arrived meantime to the POP3
inbox, they might not be filtered
- ocassionally (but not more than 1/day), I get a conflict dialog

What I didn't try yet is spam filtering on online IMAP.

In any case, there will be a KDEPIM development sprint next weekend. Test
the latest version (if from source, even better, if not, try the latest
release), gather as much information/logs as possible, find how problems can
be reproduced and report them as bugs, so I can look at them at the sprint.

Same dev, different email:

 Is in kmail a possibility/option to write debug-logs ?
To get a chance to send some info ?

Sure, there is. There is the filter log (see the Tools menu), then you can
enabled the different log areas for KDE applications with kdebugdialog.
Here you should enable the one for the akonadi filter agent (and disable
most of the others to not get a too big log) and restart akonadi from a
console with akonadictl restart. You will see the debug logs then.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=295532

Upon login I get a message from Plasma: Unable to fetch item from backend
(collection 317, resource -1) (i.e. for the same collection that creates the
deserialize spam on the console). I tried to figure out which account this
collection actually corresponds to, but was not successful so far. Assuming it
comes from Google Calendar, this issue here might be related to bug #295469.
