[Akonadi] [Bug 328421] New: Refactor session related codepaths to use jobs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328421 Bug ID: 328421 Summary: Refactor session related codepaths to use jobs Classification: Unclassified Product: Akonadi Version: GIT (master) Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: IMAP resource Assignee: chrig...@fastmail.fm Reporter: mollek...@kolabsys.com CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org The codepaths related to the session setup are currently very error prone, since they use a lot of async code, but don't protect the internal state of the objects sufficiently. This can be solved by moving all async code and the related state to dedicated job objects. In particular are synchronous dialogs invoked, meaning almost arbitrary callbacks can occur if the user forgets a dialog and then closes it, at which point the object may already be in a completely different state. Some examples are: * SessionPrivate::handleSslError invokes a dialog at the end of a process started by SessionPrivate::startSsl, while the process depends on the internal state of SessionThread and startSsl may be invoked multiple times. This means SessoinThread::sslErrorHandlerResponse can be invoked at any time, even if a second run of startSsl already succeeded and already established a secure connection. * SessionPool::onPasswordRequestDone can be invoked again due to a stale password dialog getting completed. At this stage assumptions about the internal state (such as m_pendingInitialSession being set in the ReconnectNeeded) are likely to not be true anymore. The bottom line is, either protect async codepaths from being entered multiple times, or move the state to separate job objects, so the code can safely be run multiple times in parallel. I'm pretty sure this would fix at least some of the crashes we have in the imap resource. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[kmail2] [Bug 328298] Mail disappears after having been copied to a folder

Unfortunately, the logfile is about 4MB big, mainly because it has several transactions and it downloaded a message with a picture. Is there a way to filter out the relevant stuff? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[kmail2] [Bug 328298] Mail disappears after having been copied to a folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328298 --- Comment #8 from Stephen Hartke har...@gmail.com --- Here's something perhaps unusual about my setup that might be relevant: I have two accounts in KMail, one called Incoming and the other Mail Folders. Both point to the same email account and the same IMAP account. In the Incoming account, only the INBOX is subscribed to. The reason I have this setup is that I have over 300 mail folders. I couldn't figure out how to have the INBOX polled for new email without all of the 300 other folders also being polled (which takes a long time); the mail interval checking options are per account. On one of the forums, I saw a recommendation to use two accounts in KMail. So the Incoming account gets polled for new mail, whereas the Mail Folders account only gets polled when clicking on a specific folder. However, just the fact of copying from one account to the other can't be the (only) problem, because I sent a message this morning where the Sent Mail folder was set immediately to a folder of Mail Folders. The same problem happened: KMail thought the mail was copied to the folder, but when I checked on the web access, it had not been. When KMail sync'ed the folder, it deleted the local copy of the email. Thankfully I now have a filter that backs up all email, so I didn't lose the email, but I unfortunately was not running the IMAP log at the time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[kmail2] [Bug 328298] Mail disappears after having been copied to a folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328298 --- Comment #10 from Stephen Hartke har...@gmail.com --- I posted the grep of akonadi from my .xsession-errors. I'm not sure if anything interesting is there. There are some lines kmail2(2926)/libakonadi Akonadi::EntityTreeModelPrivate::monitoredItemChanged: Got a stale notification for an item which was already removed. 259267 60 It's possible that occurs in the following: I copy a message to a folder. I then check the web access to see if it arrived. If it does not, then I try to copy the backup (made by a filter, copying all received and sent messages into a backup folder in Local Folders) into that folder. Kmail then thinks that there are two copies of the message in the folder, whereas the server thinks there's only one. I then have Kmail delete the message that isn't on the server, and I presume these errors are then from the server. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
