Hi,

I've been seeing this behavior in a folder with a small amount of messages for
some time now., but I thought is was an issue with my setup. Deleting the last
message of a list where the messages are all in the same group seems to
trigger this bug frequently.

That is with sorting by date/time most recent in subtree, most recent on top,
descending, and aggregation current activity, discussion thread mode. The
messages I'm testing with are all from different threads.

This bug is also reported in Debian:

The official specification is at http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4918
Wikipedia page (not authoritative I know ;):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebDAV

But KIO has a webdav ioslave you can borrow things from, it may be much
simpler like that.

As far as I can see it's in kdelibs, in kioslave/http/http.cpp.

I can provide webdav access once things are implemented, ping me when you need
it.

[Akonadi] [Bug 328421] New: Refactor session related codepaths to use jobs

2013-12-04 Thread Christian Mollekopf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328421

Bug ID: 328421
Summary: Refactor session related codepaths to use jobs
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: GIT (master)
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: chrig...@fastmail.fm
  Reporter: mollek...@kolabsys.com
CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org

The codepaths related to the session setup are currently very error prone,
since they use a lot of async code, but don't protect the internal state of the
objects sufficiently. This can be solved by moving all async code and the
related state to dedicated job objects.

In particular are synchronous dialogs invoked, meaning almost arbitrary
callbacks can occur if the user forgets a dialog and then closes it, at which
point the object may already be in a completely different state.

Some examples are:
* SessionPrivate::handleSslError invokes a dialog at the end of a process
started by SessionPrivate::startSsl, while the process depends on the internal
state of SessionThread and startSsl may be invoked multiple times. This means
SessoinThread::sslErrorHandlerResponse can be invoked at any time, even if a
second run of startSsl already succeeded and already established a secure
connection.

* SessionPool::onPasswordRequestDone can be invoked again due to a stale
password dialog getting completed. At this stage assumptions about the internal
state (such as m_pendingInitialSession being set in the ReconnectNeeded) are
likely to not be true anymore.

The bottom line is, either protect async codepaths from being entered multiple
times, or move the state to separate job objects, so the code can safely be run
multiple times in parallel.

I'm pretty sure this would fix at least some of the crashes we have in the imap
resource.

Reproducible: Always

I have the same problem since updating to Kubuntu 13.10. Since I found the
pkill sequence mentioned I use it and it works. But its about 1 of 4 times I
start my computer, that akonadi doesn't work. If there is anything I could
test, please ask.

I dont know if this is related to the problem: Starting Kontact I often get a
message, that kmail incoming email filters missing an mail account to use. It
shows a window asking to choose the account, but all my accounts are not
shown. Either I click ok or esc afterwards the filter is deleted in kmail. I
was wondering if that is connected to the problem, that akonadi recources
doesn't sucessfully announce its service at the dbus.

Git commit 5ca295d954d914f49524a69793d380aa14be5376 by Dan Vrátil.
Committed on 04/12/2013 at 15:12.
Pushed by dvratil into branch 'LibKGAPI/2.0'.

Respect calendar-wide timezones

Each listEvents reply contains timeZone field in header that specifies
a calendar-wide timezone that applies to all events, but was ignored by
parseEventJSONFeed(). The timeZone is now passed to JSONToEvent(), which
will first check for timezone override in start and end fields
and then apply the global timezone.

Akonadi Console's remote configuration

It looks like the remote configuration isn't stored properly.
The previous attachment show the native configuration and there all the
settings are present, but I'm missing URLs (or sth like that) in the remote
configuration dialog.
I don't know what info to put in which config setting though, since adding a
DAV groupware resource from the akonadi console gives the same result as in
this attachment.

[kmail] [Bug 139308] kmail sometimes doesnt recognize mailing list headers

--- Comment #12 from J Cain james.cain...@gmail.com ---
In 4.12 rc1 filtering on mailing lists is a real hit-or-miss proposition. I'd
guesstimate that it works 25% of the time.

From above:
KMail doesn't recognize kde-...@kde.org mailing list in a folder containing
only messages from that mailing list.

Same here with not only that list, but also
* kdepim-us...@kde.org
* kubuntu-us...@lists.ubuntu.com

Also worth noting that if one clicks on Folder Properties by right-clicking on
a mailing list folder, clicking on the Mailing List tab and then Detect
Automatically many times (most?) detecting the address either fails or detects
the wrong address.

Using a Gmail account w/ IMAP.

Kmail is usable for the first time in many months.

will test once 4.11.4 packages come into Debian and I manage to take time for

So I have an example of a missing email, and I know the IMAP logfile that
contains the relevant stuff. Unfortunately, the logfile is about 4MB big,
mainly because it has several transactions and it downloaded a message with a
picture. Is there a way to filter out the relevant stuff?

[kmail2] [Bug 328298] Mail disappears after having been copied to a folder

2013-12-04 Thread Stephen Hartke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328298

--- Comment #8 from Stephen Hartke har...@gmail.com ---
Here's something perhaps unusual about my setup that might be relevant: I have
two accounts in KMail, one called Incoming and the other Mail Folders.
Both point to the same email account and the same IMAP account. In the
Incoming account, only the INBOX is subscribed to. The reason I have this
setup is that I have over 300 mail folders. I couldn't figure out how to have
the INBOX polled for new email without all of the 300 other folders also being
polled (which takes a long time); the mail interval checking options are per
account. On one of the forums, I saw a recommendation to use two accounts in
KMail. So the Incoming account gets polled for new mail, whereas the Mail
Folders account only gets polled when clicking on a specific folder.

However, just the fact of copying from one account to the other can't be the
(only) problem, because I sent a message this morning where the Sent Mail
folder was set immediately to a folder of Mail Folders. The same problem
happened: KMail thought the mail was copied to the folder, but when I checked
on the web access, it had not been. When KMail sync'ed the folder, it deleted
the local copy of the email. Thankfully I now have a filter that backs up all
email, so I didn't lose the email, but I unfortunately was not running the IMAP
log at the time.

2013-12-04 Thread Stephen Hartke

--- Comment #10 from Stephen Hartke har...@gmail.com ---
I posted the grep of akonadi from my .xsession-errors. I'm not sure if
anything interesting is there. There are some lines
kmail2(2926)/libakonadi Akonadi::EntityTreeModelPrivate::monitoredItemChanged:
Got a stale notification for an item which was already removed. 259267 60

It's possible that occurs in the following: I copy a message to a folder. I
then check the web access to see if it arrived. If it does not, then I try to
copy the backup (made by a filter, copying all received and sent messages into
a backup folder in Local Folders) into that folder. Kmail then thinks that
there are two copies of the message in the folder, whereas the server thinks
there's only one. I then have Kmail delete the message that isn't on the
server, and I presume these errors are then from the server.
