[kmail2] [Bug 323582] New: emails are opened in reply mode

2013-08-16 Thread Christian Schulze
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323582

Bug ID: 323582
Summary: emails are opened in reply mode
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: l...@quantentunnel.de

If I open any received email by double clicking it, the mail is presented in
reply-mode.
This poses multiple problems:
1. I can not save any attachments
2. I can not close this window by hitting 'ESC'
3. When closing it by hitting 'x', I am asked wether to save as draft or
discard the mail.
4. After discarding the 'draft', the receiving date of the according mail is
changed to the current date and time on the imap server.

This makes kmail absolutely unusable It messes up the server side! Has
noone ever tested this prior to release

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a received email (with attachment)
2. try to close by hitting 'ESC' (will fail)
3. try to save an attachment by right clicking it (no option availabe, since in
wrong mode)
4. close draft by clicking on 'x' (will ask for save or discard)
5. take a USABLE mail client and check the receiving date of the mail opened in
1. (will be set to the current date/time)
Actual Results:
see above

Expected Results:
Well, mails should not be opened in reply mode!!!

This, including other issues with akonadi on imaps, is the worst condition I've
ever seen kmail in after about 10 years of usage.

Still seeing this with 4.11, turning of SSL can NOT be an option. Come on guys,
this is a real showstopper and it's persisting since the release of 4.10.
Months later, nothing has changed in this regard. Even worse, people have been
banned by their providers due to stressing the imap-server. I have to report,
that this problem causes a 100% load on my local mail server when akonadi goes
crazy (which happens about 30mins after starting this piece of junk).

Fix it finally

[Akonadi] [Bug 322871] mail filters do not work for incoming messages if the destination folder of the pop3 resource is not the inbox

I'm unable to reproduce this. I set up a filter with Subject contains foobar
and action Move Into Folder akonadi-local/folder; then in Advanced from
checked accounts only and uncheck all but the one POP3 server. I also tried
moving the test filter down the list, from first to second place.

I tried with two POP3 accounts, each with a different destination folder.
Apart, obviously, from the account settings, there were other differences: one
uses pipelining and the other doesn't; one uses encryption and the other
doesn't. Everything worked for me.

Sure! So I am upgrading to a live build now. Did I check out from the correct

When I try to decrypt a file via Kleopatra, the decryption hangs forever after
PIN entry.

Gpg-agent is installed and running.

1. try: PIN entry pops up. After PIN entry decryption hangs (progress bar
banging left to right and back again)
2. try: PIN entry does NOT pop ub (gpg-agent is running) and decryption hangs

An empty temp file is created.

All the same is true for kmail as well if I try to decrypt an S/MIME encrypted
e-mail.

Problem occured in KDE 4.10 amd continues in KDE 4.11. KDE 4.9 is ok

Reproducible: Always

 5. Change the value of collectionannotations (double-click) to
 /vendor/kolab/folder-type event.default
 /vendor/kolab/folder-type note.default
 /vendor/kolab/folder-type contact.default
 /vendor/kolab/folder-type task.default
 /vendor/kolab/folder-type journal.default
 depending on your need.

Unfortunately this does not seem to work with 4.11.0. When changing the
collectionannotations attribute I get the error message: Kolab: Parent
collection can not contain sub-collections.. All my folders just get ignored
and no contacts/events/notes/... are displayed in kontact.

Any idea what's causing this?

- just installed kubuntu 12.04 lts with kmail 4.8.5 = works
- upgrade to kubuntu 13.04 with kmail 4.10.5 = works
- delete imaps account and readd it = doesn't work (same problem as with my
Debian installation)

So it seams that it's impossible to add any imaps account in kmail 4.10.5 and
that the debian migration also corrupts the imaps accounts.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284527

--- Comment #15 from Alexander Maret-Huskinson a...@maret.de ---
Took me a while playing with the akonadiconsole but I figured it out:

Kolab's Akonadi sub-collections can not be created because the parent
collection which is created by the kolab proxy does not have the
inode/directory content type set. You have to create it manually and then set
the inode/directory content type.

In case someone else runs into the same problem:
Within akonadiconsole, you can use the debugger to see which commands are used
to create the parent collection. Just paste them into the Raw Socket tab
(starting from the 0 Login command), but do not paste the one that fails. You
can now use the Browser and add the content type inode/directory to the newly
created collection. From now on, Kolab will be able to create its collections
whenever you add a collectionannotation to an IMAP folder.

In 4.12 we have messagebox to inform user why we can't search.
in 4.11.1 I can't add messagebox+i18n so I use qDebug to inform users.

[kdepim] [Bug 323476] Sort akonadi resources by type

This is particularly problematic when there are a dozen imap resources that all
have to be checked because akonadi has yet another problem with them, and in
between a longlist of other stuff they don't stand out.
The quick search bar at the top is useless for this because it can only search
by resource name; typing imap gives an empty list.

Having the same problem here:
openSUSE 12.3, 4.10.5
kmail's default Local Mail maildir resource doesn't show all mail it
contains, and can't be made to do so. Restarting kmail doesn't fix the problem,
neithe rdoes restarting akonadi.
Updating the Local Mail folder in or exxcluding all subfolders, does
absolutely nothing.

qdbus org.freedesktop.Akonadi.Control /AgentManager
org.freedesktop.Akonadi.AgentManager.agentInstanceSynchronize
akonadi_maildir_resource_0
Causes a synchronisation, as shown in kmail lower right corner (click blue
up-arrow), but the sync itself seems to be broken as it doesn't align
aknoadi's/kmail's brains to on-disk reality.

This is both unusable and useless!

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320158

Well I found the problem.

I refuse to have my mail stored in the bowels of kmail and want to know exactly
hwere it is, so I shifted the Local Mail maildir folder to ~/Mail/local/. In
the interim, something, somewhere, created a ~/Mail/.local.directory/ maildir
folder instead and started using that instead.

While the .XXX.directory symlink lafaffel is a good way to flag which
subdirectories are part of the mail directory and which are not, in all other
respects it's an abominable PITA!!!

[Akonadi] [Bug 323623] New: DAV-ressource should detect network status instead of spreading error notifications if there is no network

2013-08-16 Thread m.wege
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323623

Bug ID: 323623
Summary: DAV-ressource should detect network status instead of
spreading error notifications if there is no network
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: DAV Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: m.w...@web.de

I am using the DAV-resource with Owncloud. What makes it really annoying to use
is the fact, that is obviously is not able to handle situations when there is
not network. The notifications area is spamed. I think there is no need for me
to be notified. The resource should just detect the network status and act upon
it, meaning just waiting until the network is restored. In most of the cases I
already know that the network is gone, so no notification is needed.

Reproducible: Always
