How typical of KDE. Bug marked as fixed in KDE 4.9, yet still exists in KDE
4.10. Has the Akonadi disaster taken enough human lifetimes in fixing its
brokenness, or will you get longer to get rid of it?

[kontact] [Bug 324277] Crash when upgrading from4.4 to 4.10

2013-08-31 Thread Eric Depagne
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324277

--- Comment #2 from Eric Depagne e...@depagne.org ---
After some digging on how to use the new email system (specifically, how to
import emails from my 4.4 KDE), I finally managed to get kontact working fine.
kontact do not crash anymore on startup, so i can't get anymore information.
Sorry for the wrong bug, but i'm happy to try to provide more info if needed.

[kmail2] [Bug 324310] New: crash when viewing chinese/gb2312 encoded spam message

2013-08-31 Thread Henri Valta
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324310

Bug ID: 324310
Summary: crash when viewing chinese/gb2312 encoded spam message
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: c...@jakorasia.info

clicking the message or even hovering mouse over it until the tooltip shows,
crashes kmail.

Message in the folder view shows chinese characters in subject and sender.
Seems to be gb2312 encoded.

I'll try to attach the message and partial backtrace here. Creating full
backtrace seems to take a bit of work on arch... I'll create it if required

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. try to view or hover mouse over the message in message list
2.
3.
Actual Results:
crash

Expected Results:
no crash

Using kmail 4.11.0-2 package on arch linux 64bit

2013-08-31 Thread Henri Valta
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324310

--- Comment #3 from Henri Valta c...@jakorasia.info ---
Turns out this is caused by fontconfig package upgrade to 2.10.94-1.
Downgrading to 2.10.93-1 fixes the crash. Any message with chinese characters
seems to cause the crash with 2.10.94-1

Is this a bug in fontconfig or kmail bug exposed by new fontconfig?

Wow, thing are moving fast.
fontconfig update to 2.10.95-1 resolved the issue again and fontconfig
changelog has this:
commit 272a99217b15e9cf1e4d2a1dcf92b540576c29a6
Author: Akira TAGOH ak...@tagoh.org
Date: Sat Aug 31 10:43:13 2013 +0900

2013-08-31 Thread Martin van Es
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316107

--- Comment #15 from Martin van Es b...@mrvanes.com ---
Akonadi/KMail is so broken in 4.11 that I would advise not to upgrade and to
globally retract the update. I can not rely on KMail to show me current mail
anymore, especially after standby. This has already caused some missed
appointments for by now. So, webmail interface then for a while...

I know it doesn't help to whine, but I thought it's in everyone's interest to
know the current state of affairs. Also, if there's anything I can do I'd be
happy to help to get 4.10 functionality back again.

[kmail2] [Bug 324319] New: Searching mails for size does return zero results.

2013-08-31 Thread Dirk Sarpe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324319

Bug ID: 324319
Summary: Searching mails for size does return zero results.
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: dns_h...@web.de

Searching mails by size does not find any. It does not seem to matter which
actual size I use (1 kB, 10 kB, …) or if I search for mails that are bigger or
smaller in size. Other searches seem to work (tried Body of Message)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open KMail
2. Hit S to open search dialog
3. Select: Size in Bytes (Größe in Bytes) is bigger than (ist größer
als) 1,00 kB
4. Click Search
Actual Results:
No mails are found.

Expected Results:
All mails that are bigger 1,00 kB are found.

Side note: I tried this with the language set to German. After switching the
language to English for the bug report and restarting Kontact, various searches
give the following error: Can not get search result. Unable to create
persistent search. Switching back to German the applicaton behaves like
before.

Sorry, scratch the previous message. It still is kinda present:

Yes, it works using the keyboard now. But say I start highlighting messages
(clicking-and-dragging with the mouse) from the bottom up, so I drag over E, D,
C, and B to highlight them. The message that shows in preview is still C, not
B.
