I'm running a brand new installation on a Raspberry Pi 4B (4GB), so maybe that
has something to do with it, but in general I'm pleased to find that KDE runs
remarkably well on such a low spec device.

I chose it like this:
- korganizer > Settings > Colour Scheme > Breeze Dark

I see the problem now. I had also tried clicking on the "..." which popped up
a window with the tags, which I tried to click on to choose one, but nothing
happened. Now I can see that there are boxes to the left
