[Bug 275949] Unable to set Kmail as default email provider in Gnome
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275949 David Faure fa...@kde.org changed: What|Removed |Added CC||fa...@kde.org --- Comment #4 from David Faure faure kde org 2011-09-07 16:09:13 --- The x-scheme-handler/mailto addition looks very much correct, since kmail can take a mailto URL as argument. However the message/rfc822 addition doesn't look correct, since passing a path to a .eml file to kmail doesn't work, the command-line option --msg is necessary for that. So this would require a different .desktop file with --msg %f in the Exec line, but that wouldn't help using kmail as the default mailer in gnome since you want to run kmail, not kmail --msg. Seems to me that this is an oversight in the way that gnome control center works. It cannot be assumed that we can just run the command for vieweing a mail file, and run that same command without arguments in order to start the full mail application. In particular, it would make kmail lose the connection more often when using it in a flaky (unstable) network connection, for instance airport wifi. The way it works with TCP connections is that if you get the same IP address again later, the communication will resume. But if kmail drops the connection immediately when losing the IP, then it behaves worse than currently, in such a situation... I talked to the Qt networking people today, and they agreed. How about just 1) making the timeout shorter (60s instead of 600s or responseTimeout() which defaults to 600 anyway) (at least with responseTimeout() the users can adjust the timeout in a config file, but the default of 10 minutes makes this inpractical for this issue, I think), and: 2) keeping the error handling part of your patch Does this already make things better? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

I changed this to Exec=/usr/bin/browser --url=%u and it worked. This is an upstream maemo bug, but I don't know where to report it. Does anyone know? If they need the desktop file for an application launcher as well, then they need to split this .desktop file in two: the current one without the MimeType line, and another .desktop file with the mimetypes and with the above Exec line, and with NoDisplay=true to hide it from the application launcher. Alternatively, they could fix the browser app so that it can take a url on the command line without --url=, and then a single desktop file would be enough (since the %u is replaced with nothing when the desktop file is run from an app launcher). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

The problem is that the imap resource moves on to the next task while it still has a KIMAP::SelectJob running. So later on when that job finishes, the resource is quite confused and hits asserts. The reason why the imap resource moves on to the next task is that Akonadi::ResourceBasePrivate::slotItemSyncDone calls taskDone. And ItemSync is done because of an error (ItemFetchJob subjob fails). But still, taskDone is called too early, since the slot connected to that KIMAP::SelectJob was the one that was supposed to say itemsRetrievalDone. [Bug 243832] New: sieve can't login because of enum mistmatch between kmail and imap_resource
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243832 Summary: sieve can't login because of enum mistmatch between kmail and imap_resource Product: Akonadi Version: 4.5 Platform: Compiled Sources OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: IMAP resource AssignedTo: er...@kde.org ReportedBy: fa...@kde.org CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org Version: 4.5 (using Devel) OS:Linux KMail::Util::findSieveUrlForAccount calls authentication() on the imapsettings dbus interface, and treats it as a KIMAP::LoginJob enum. But the imap resource implements authentication() as a MailTransport::Transport::EnumAuthenticationType::type. So my imap (on mail.kdab.com) auth type of Plain gets wrongly converted to ANONYMOUS, and the sieve kioslave doesn't manage to log in. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1) Configure an IMAP account (e.g. on mail.kdab.com) 2) Settings / Manage sieve scripts. Actual Results: Authorization failed, Authentication failed. Most likely the password is wrong. The server responded: NO Authentication Error authentication not supported I asked Kevin and he told me that the code was using the KIMAP::LoginJob enum initially and has been changed to use the MailTransport enum later on. I indeed remember the migration issue caused by that. Isn't the right fix, to avoid forcing our users through that migration problem, to go back to the KIMAP::LoginJob enum? This would fix the migration issue -and- fix the bad enum conversion that makes it impossible to edit sieve scripts currently. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258271 --- Comment #18 from David Faure faure kde org 2012-01-06 12:17:52 --- Git commit d31715db768b477e8e5d7acaf852924f356c42e2 by David Faure. Committed on 06/01/2012 at 12:33. Pushed by dfaure into branch 'KDE/4.8'. KTcpSocket: forward encryptedBytesWritten from QSslSocket. Very important for the timeout detection in the akonadi imap resource. write(5MB) gives an immediate bytesWritten(5MB), only encryptedBytesWritten allows to see some regular activity on the socket. Committed on 17/01/2012 at 23:02. Pushed by dfaure into branch 'master'. Rework handling of connection failures, to fix crashes. Testcase: unplugging my network cable, waiting for timeouts, plugging it back again later, check mail. * Port from deprecated connectionLost to stateChanged, which has the major benefit of not confusing failure to connect with we lost our connection (due to KIMAP::Session emitting both signals for compat reasons). * Failure to connect is now handled in the result slot for the LoginJob, rather than via the connectionFailed signal, since the first one is called anyway. * Make sure we emit connectDone on error, even if m_initialConnectDone is true, so that the resource sets itself to offline (rather than it attempting the same task over and over again!). * Don't set the resource status to Broken when it's simply offline (login failure due to could not connect is handled separately now) * Make sure not to pop up a password dialog when couldn't connect; this is different from we could connect but the server refused login. Requires kdepimlibs commit acdb0f7e50 for ERR_COULD_NOT_CONNECT.
