I can reproduce the problem on Gentoo (amd64). It also happens in the print
preview and when printing into a file (PostScript or pdf). It makes no
difference whether invoking the print dialog from the main window or from
within the standalone message window of the decrypted message.

I guess it is not worth investigating this phenomenon with probably somehow
corrupted legacy files. I just removed agent_config_akonadi_kabc_resource_0*
and it works fine again. I can even put those files back in place and the crash
still does not reappear.

So, closing as WONTFIX.

KDE Platform Version: 4.13.0
Qt Version: 4.8.5
Operating System: Linux 3.12.13-gentoo-gnu x86_64

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Turned on the computer with auto login active. I left the room before the boot
loader showed up and when I came back, KDE had finished starting up and drkonqi
told me that something crashed. Then I tried akonadictl restart from command
line and the same crash happened again. The backtrace is now from this second
crash.

This crash never happened before. I did not change any program or library
during or since the previous KDE session. When thinking of what I did in the
last KDE session that might be related to the crash is
- set up desktop search to not search in /home
- delete about 500 obsolete emails (from roughly 11.000), move some emails into
subfolders

I just tried to reproduce this bug with KMail 4.11.1, but it seems to be fixed
now.

What I could observe:

- Long lines are softwrapped, no more hardwrapped.
- This is also true when saving the email as a draft and reopening it.
- Content-Transfer-Encoding was 7-Bit for long lines (less than 1000
characters), but quoted-printable for *very* long lines.

Looks like it works perfectly now.

Is anybody still hitting this bug?

I can't reproduce it with OpenPGP Mime. Please attach a broken mail. Maybe I
see the issue if i see the broken mail.
Please check if you not talking about bug 289722. The issue here is: You
transfer the text correctly but with the wrong Content Transfer Encoding -
if the Content Transfer Encoding doesn't match, the recipient email client
 shows nothing or garbage.

I am trying to answer these questions, but this is not easy:

- the recipients did not (and to some degree could not) tell me for sure if
they received actually a blank text or if it the content is garbage that is not
displayed
- the content of the encrypted emails is confidential (which is why they are
encrypted), and as it happens only in few cases, it is hard to produce a
testcase that I can transparently disclosure

Problem appears for me with OpenPGP/MIME.

I did not find any pattern regarding the text. It just happens with any text.

In the screenshot that I will attach, you can see the size of a text/plain
attachment that has been transferred base64 encoded. Its size as ASCII file is
54 bytes. When base64 encoded, it shows up as 77 bytes and as 78 bytes. That
does not seems right. Are there two code paths to calculate attachment size?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Send an email with a 54 bytes long text file attached. Open the sent email and
compare the size of the attachment in the message structure (77 bytes) with the
size in the properties dialog of the attachment (78 bytes).

Please correct me if I get this wrong. This is bascially about RFC2045 –
RFC2049? When creating an attachment of MIME type text/plain, it may be encoded
as base64. According to RFC2049, it must be converted into a canonical form,
which means for text/plain that LF must be converted to CRLF.

If this is correct, then this seems to be still broken. I just sent an email
through KMail2 with a text file res.txt attached that consists only of LF LF.

In the transmitted email, the attachment looks like this:

Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; name=res.txt

Cgo=

When decoding Cgo=, you will notice that it still reads LF LF instead of CRLF
CRLF.

Summary: message in Appearance/Message Tags is keeping the
configuration window too wide
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog

a screenshot of the dialog with the message in it

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS:Linux

If Nepomuk services are not running, there appears a warning in Appearance
Message Tags. This warning refuses to be wrapped over several lines. So you
can not narrow the window much. In German localization (and probably some
others, too), it is even too wide to fit in a common screen resolution.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- make sure kmail is not running and Nepomuk services are deactived in
systemsettings
- start kmail, preferably in German localization
- open the settings dialog
- try to make it narrower

Actual Results:
The minimum width of the window is limited by the length of the warning message
that shows up in Appearance Message Tags

The warning in German is

Der semantische Suchdienst „Nepomuk“ ist nicht verfügbar. Ohne diesem ist das
Einrichten von Stichwörtern nicht möglich. Sie können den Dienst in den
Systemeinstellungen einschalten.

which is too long to fit on my screen with a resolution of 1280x1024.

Expected Results:
If the message does not fit in one line, wrap it.

This happened for me while Nepomuk services were actually activated. However,
they failed to start, so KMail behaved like they were not.

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182905

Summary: Gentoo QA Notice: poor programming practices
(dereferencing type-punned pointer in stdsoap2.cpp)
   Product: kresources
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general

Version:(using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler: gcc-4.3.3 gcc (Gentoo 4.3.3 p1.0, pie-10.1.5) 4.3.3
OS:Linux
Installed from:Gentoo Packages

When installing kresources (4.2.0) on Gentoo (amd64), portage complains about
some compiler warnings (gcc 4.3.3):

QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile fine but
 exhibit random runtime failures.
 /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepim-kresources-4.2.0/work/kdepim-kresources-4.2.0/kresources/groupwise/soap/stdsoap2.cpp:8082:

Please do not file a Gentoo bug and instead report the above QA issues
directly to the upstream developers of this software.
