The bug reported here is still present in Kubuntu 13.10 along with KDE
4.10.2.
For those who use the Akonadi Calendar Resource, there is a useful

Kde 4.10.3 still has the same problem, using IMAP without SSL is not a solution
for me.
BTW, I am using Gentoo instead of Ubuntu (the platform this ticket is reported
with).

I have had a the same problem in Kubuntu 12.04 along with KDE 4.8.3.
A workaround that seems to work so far is simply restarting one or a few times.
However, this might not be a structural solution
