Since the use case is access to a single vcard file, I'd recommend using the
VCard resource instead.

The KABC resource is intended to be a temporary solution to provide access to
data storage facilities for which there was a KABC plugin but for which no
native new resource exists yet.

For single vcard that is not the case anymore

I am running akonadi 1.50 on kde 4.6.0.
I can't create a working kabc resource from a vcard file; when I try to, I get
the same garbled address book as in the picture attached by Marc.
Opening one of these contacts crashes kontact.
