So I ventured to the upgrade from 2.4.1 to 2.6.0 to see if that helps my
integration problems with Stork in any way. Agent and DHCPv6 restarted fine
after reboot. DHCPv4 for some reason is complaining about address being already
in use. The system worked just fine under 2.4.1 without any
This is what I see on node1 over the last 24 hours – yesterday around 10:45 am,
I was doing configuration changes on dhcpv6 side, so the process would be
restarted a few times, it would run, ramping up memory utilization is seems,
and then got restarted again and has been running since. No
Also, adding stork-focused email distro, though I suspect the membership is
largely overlapping

Good morning, Darren
These were taken from node2, which is a backup node. And no, I have not done
anything to the processes, not even restarted them over the course of a last
week or so. I looked through the logs and I do not see any explanation for the
behavior.
Node1 is where I
Settings are pretty underwhelming so I assume that section would be somewhere
else?

I can confirm - the lack of support for string ID is pretty annoying right
now, and forces me to create ranges for specific applications, which will
not scale well in production.
On the second one, I observed that it goes numerically from the bottom of
the pool range up, so ::2, ::3, etc. In
Your log is currently ser too low to see much in syslog. Try setting it to

Good afternoon,
I observed a rather surprising behavior today in Kea 2.4.1 DHCPv6 server.
I have a global (shared) custom option value defined as follows. Note the
config file value
{
"space": "vendor-4491",
"name": "config-file",
"code": 33,
Just a foreword, I am experimenting with the class definitions and different
test structures, since the examples provided in the official documentation
are very limited. Specifically, I created these match conditions, and they
seem to work just fine

I guess netstat is deprecated. “ss” seems to show the binding but … only
to a link local address for some reason on the v6 side.
root@server-kea-node1:~# ss -tulpn
Netid State Recv-Q Send-Q
Local Address:Port Peer Address:Port Process
I wonder whether it has anything to do with the fact that DHCPv6 process
does not seem to listen on port 546
root@server-kea-node1:/home/kea # sudo netstat -tulpn | grep LISTEN
tcp0 0 127.0.0.1:8000 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

Dear colleagues,
I have been attempting to test a setup in the lab with DOCSIS CM operating
in IPv6 mode only, where the DHCPv6 messages are relayed across the CMTS and
the first-hop router (relay address 2600:6ce4:0:3e::1) towards a Kea server
running 2.4 code (address 2600:6ce4:0:42::130).
You did hit the nail on the head, Darren,
I have three device "classes" to deal with her:
- DOCSIS CM, which will have Option 17 with sub-option 2 equal to "ECM",
- DOCSIS embedded router (eROUTER), which will have Option 17 with sub-option 2
equal to "EROUTER", and
- all devices connected
I have a rather odd question about the HA setup. I have two Kea nodes (.221
and .222) in hot-standby setup, with Stork running on .223.
Each Kea node has the hooks-library entry as follows (note the :8001 port
being used)

Thanks, again
Drilling a bit on the multiple entries in Option 17, I created two entries, one
for vendor 14810 and one for vendor 1. I was hoping for two Option 17
instances to be added *or* one instance with two vendor-specific entries. A
single entry is added and just for vendor
Thank you, Darren
So essentially the magic glue is the vendor ID (14810) used as data under
"vendor-ops" (option 17). That's neat.
Is it possible to have multiple vendor-specific options inserted into a single
Option 17 instance this way?
Marek
