This is not yet available, but I am working on moving the manual to a
Plone instance right now and hope that it will be done soon - once
that is done I know that I can get a printed version of the manual -
but I don't know about DocBook/XML format - I'll see what I can find
about that.

Paul that is awesome news!! Congrats!! Can't wait to see the end product :)

You need to set the permissions for the patron appropriately - see the manual:

Kabir,
This is the default behavior of Koha. Just set up each school as a
'branch' in one installation and you're set to go.
The manual has much more info:

I recommend registering all of the libraries that have switched to
Koha with lib-web-cats so that we can keep semi-accurate stats about
where Koha is being used and by how many libraries.

I don't see a redirect either - as for content I think you should add
the minutes that I sent to the KUDOS list for the meeting we had here
at ALA Midwinter and links to all of the other KUDOS information
sources (mailing list, facebook, etc).
I tried to subscribe to the RSS but it said there was
I agree! It should say that it's not available or that it's on hold.
Seems like a bug - or a feature that was never implemented.

I am at training in Texas and the librarians here agree with Susan.
It should say that the book is not available. They don't need it to
say that it's on hold - but they don't want it to say available
because then patrons will go the shelf looking for it.

Koha can't do it - but there are scripts out there already that maybe can be
integrated in if you know how to code.
One I found is this: http://ouseful.open.ac.uk/blogarchive/009058.html

This is certainly something I have heard several people ask for. I
personally like your option #1. I'm not sure why we'd need a system
preference for this though. Why wouldn't we just have an advanced
search form that lets you search the fields associated with patron
records?

I actually have a poorly organized FAQ in the manual (
http://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/Appendicies/FAQs)
and can add this there - but I say add it to as many places as possible.
