YUGOSLAVIA - RUSSIA PRESIDENT MILOSEVIC RECEIVES STARODUBTSEV BELGRADE, July 5 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic received on Wednesday the visiting governor of Russia's Tula Province, Vasily Alexandrovich Starodubtsev, and his host, Premier of the Yugoslav republic of Serbia Mirko Marjanovic. During the ensuing cordial discussion it was stressed that the solid friendship, closeness and shared interests of the peoples of Yugoslavia and Russia are a basis and stimulus for cooperation in all fields. In this cooperation, Serbia and the Tula Province are scoring significant results with the prospect of further expansion, both in the economic, as well as in the scientific, technical, cultural, sports and other areas, it was also noted. SERBIAN PREMIER RECEIVED RUSSIA'S TULA PROVINCE GOVERNOR BELGRADE, July 4 (Tanjug) - Serbian Premier and Socialist Party (SPS) Vice President Mirko Marjanovic on Tuesday received Vasily Alexandrovich Starodubchev, governor of Russia's Tula Province, a government statement said. Starodubchev is paying a visit to this Yugoslav republic at Marjanovic's invitation. The spiritual closeness, a history of friendship and ties between the two nations is a firm foundation on which to promote and develop bilateral cooperation in all fields, it was noted during the ensuing lengthy and cordial discussion. The two sides agreed that there are significant possibilities for and mutual interest in expanding economic cooperation between Serbia and the Tula Province and further strengthening cultural, scientific and other ties. SERBIAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKER RECEIVES RUSSIAN PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION BELGRADE, July 5 (Tanjug) - Serbian Parliament Speaker Dragan Tomic received on Wednesday a delegation of the Russian State Duma (lower house) and Soviet (upper house). The delegation, headed by governor of the Tula Province Vasily Alexandrovich Starodubtsev, arrived in Belgrade on Tuesday at the invitation of the Yugoslav republic of Serbia's Premier Mirko Marjanovic. During the ensuing friendly and frank discussion, Tomic briefed the delegation on the current political situation at home and efforts being made to alleviate the consequences of last year's NATO aggression. The two sides agreed that friendly relations between Yugoslavia, Serbia within it, and Russia in all fields open scope for expanding economic and other forms of cooperation, and showed a desire for maintaining contacts at all levels. Starodubtsev paid tribute to the Yugoslav people, headed by President Slobodan Milosevic, for their brave defence of their freedom, independence and sovereignty. The Yugoslav people have shown in post-NATO-war reconstruction that they are determined to work, together with their government, for prosperity and a better future, Starodubtsev said. RUSSIAN STATE DUMA AND SOVIET DELEGATION VISITED YUGOSLAV PARLIAMENT BELGRADE, July 4 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav parliament officials Ljubisa Ristic and Ivica Dacic received on Tuesday a delegation of Russia's State Duma (lower house) and Soviet. Ristic heads the Chamber of Citizens (lower house) foreign relations committee, while Dacic chairs the Chamber's committee on public information. The Russian delegation comprised Vasily Alexandrovich Starodubtsev, deputy to the Soviet and governor of the Tula Province, Duma Deputy Anatoly Artemyev, and government aide Nikita Fedotov. Ristic said he hoped the process of Yugoslavia's accession to the Russia-Belarus Union would be completed in the near future, and added that the concept of Yugoslavia's accession to the Union should be ready by October. He said that a joint commission dealing with the matter has proposed certain activities, such as meetings of the heads of state of Yugoslavia, Russia and Belarus, as well as meetings of experts in various fields, which should be conducive to a speedy unification. According to him, the concept of Yugoslavia's accession to the Union has its economic and political reasons as well as reasons in the areas of military strategy and information. Artemyev, in turn, thanked the hosts for their cordial and friendly reception and hoped that Russia and Yugoslavia would together find solutions to the present problems in the region. REGRET OVER TERRORIST ACTS IN CHECHNYA, FOREIGN MINISTRY BELGRADE, July 5 - The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the deepest regret the reports of the newest synchronized terrorist acts of Chechen separatists in which over 60 innocent people were killed. These crimes testify that the terrorists, with the support and assistance from abroad, do not stop at even the most monstrous methods in order to cause massive human causalities, draw the attention of the public and endanger the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. The Yugoslav Government and public therefore condemn in the strongest terms these senseless criminal acts, express condolences to the families of those killed and give support to the efforts of the Russian Federation in the uprooting of terrorism and separatism. The FR of Yugoslavia calls all countries to engage in the suppression of separatism and terrorism, which - in a wide circle from Indonesia and Sri Lanka, trough Cashmere, Chechnya, Kosovo and Metohija, Algeria and many other countries endangered by separatism and terrorism - are used as a mechanism for the destabilization of sovereign countries. YUGOSLAVIA - MYANMAR MYANMAR MINISTER ARRIVES IN YUGOSLAVIA BELGRADE, July 5 (Tanjug) - Myanmar Foreign Minister U Win Aung arrived in Belgrade on Wednesday on an official return visit to Yugoslavia at the invitation of Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic. Speaking to reporters at Belgrade Airport, U Win Aung stressed the spirit of friendship that links Yugoslavia and Myanmar. He went on to say he had come personally, as a friend, to visit the brave and patriotic Yugoslav people who had offered heroic resistance to NATO's brutal aggression and who do not allow foreign interference in their internal affairs. At Belgrade Airport, U Win Aung was welcomed by Jovanovic and aides, Minister coordinating relations with international financial bodies Borka Vucic, Yugoslav Army representatives and Myanmar Ambassador to Yugoslavia U Kyar Nyo Chit Pe and his staff. U Win Aung will be visiting Yugoslavia from July 5 to 9. The award was conferred on Monday by the Editorial Office publishing company and the Trade Leaders Club of Madrid. On behalf of the Science and Technology Ministry and in his own name, Ivkovic sent the message of congratulations to TANJUG Director and Editor-in-Chief Dusan Djordjevic, and to the journalistic and other staff. SERBIAN PROVINCE OF KOSOVO AND METOHIJA ETHNIC ALBANIAN LEADER ATTACKED IN U.N.-RUN KOSOVO-METOHIJA KOSOVO POLJE, July 5 (Tanjug) - An ethnic Albanian leader was attacked by ethnic Albanian terrorists in U.N.-administered Kosovo-Metohija on Tuesday, according to reports on Wednesday. Sokol Quse, who heads the ethnic Albanian Democratic Reform Party which supports multi-ethnic life in this province of the Yugoslav republic of Serbia, was attacked while visiting the Kosovo Polje-based Centre for Peace and Tolerance, the Centre said.
