I don't know how Yahoo works, but from a network and internet point of view
it's highly unlikely that it's a firewall or port issue if the first frame
gets through fine.

It looks like your particular issue was fixed on Oct 7, 2006 and is
bug # 131218 (http://bugs.kde.org/131218) in our bug database. The
fix is in KDE 3.5.6. There should be updated packages available for
Ubuntu 6.10 on kubuntu.org
