Just got to get in on this one.I agree with almost everything said.Been
flying my KR2 since 1990 without flaps or b board.Not because I don't want
it but just haven't put one on.Landing is not a problem for me.I did own
and fly an Avid Flyer with a VW conversion. The flaperons were great for
?Is this a popularity vote or what? Responses like?this have nothing to do with
building and educating?builders like myself. One way or another we? get educated
here wether we like the tone or not. There is no such thing as a stupid
question when you ask for advice and simply don't know.

Doran,
I'm sorry you felt threatened or challenged by our rather frank
answers to a question asked on the net. Our response was based on
thousands of hours flight time in KR's. While your statement "I have

There was a time when I'd let this bother me, but no longer. I know

P.S. With 500+ hours flight time in a KR, there is nothing "trivial"
about deployable drag for landing. Our strong opinions are based

I landed down wind once

On the first flight in my KR,
Doran,
I don't know about other aircraft, but I do know that the KR is one slick
little bird. It took me a while to accept the fact that it needed some drag
for landing. The reason is because when you are set up on final and have the
appropriate attitude to maintain the speed you want, you

Then you may not have tried to get a KR to stick to the ground when trying
to get into a short strip!

Anyone silly enough to sand their wing would probably try flying
without a motor too. Ha...:-)

I made two "power at idle" landings yesterday. Does that count
for anything? :-) I
For all the KRs with laminar flow airfoil sections, this might be
interesting.During a World Gliding Competition, the American champion dumped
water ballast onto the German champion below, who was gaining on him in
climb.Naturally this dirty trick infuriated the German champ, and at the

I found the glider that I flew in extremely noisy. We had to shout to talk.
