The best thing to do is post bugs/feature request on http://bugs.locamotion.org under the pootle product.
At least the navigation with keyboard shortcuts should be available in pootle 2.2 (apart from other useful UI changes and a relatively big speedup). It's true the search function needs a rather thorough revamp, it doesn't function very well, it for example cannot be depended on because it isn't guaranteed to find all strings and it's a pity it doesn't support some more advanced searches.
