[orcmid] I don't have the details, but many use the Frank Liang hyphenator that was created for TeX (and LaTeX). <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyphenation_algorithm>. It would be nice to have a model that worked in UTF-8 and distinguished between hard and soft hyphenation.
