Unhappy notice to all -- Robin Russ Handweavers, as a lace supplier, is
no more. Russ is retiring this month and selling the business. The new
owners do not want to handle any lace business and all supplies are being
sold. Most of it was gone already when I was there last week.

I've recently been asked about some high prices for antique lace as seen on
Ebay, along with comments that perhaps lace was being cut up in small pieces
in order to sell it quickly.

Sunnyvale, CA, but we do have the

RE Evelynn McCain's request for how to work the lace vest.
I made a flat pillow out of blue insulation board from Lowe's or a home
builder's supply house. Make two the same width so you don't have to make
it as long top to bottom but can use one to slip up to the other as you need
to move down
Oh I know Russ deserves to retire. But golly, that was such a neat place.
First ran in toRR when we were seeking weaving supplies. Then came the
lace. I will savor the memories of visiting the shop in the '80s. Such a
dependable and helpful dealer, at least in my experience

pictures of bobbins from the collection of Christine and David Springett. being
sold
on the 16th of December.
They are all very beautiful. It makes me wish for a ticket to London!

20 LESSONS, 1993 Ruth Bean, Bedford.
She begins with very simple Beds designs and explains the working in detail.
Her book will carry you from the easy to an advanced level.

California, there are a couple of places still available for a 3 day workshop
in
Bedfordshire Lace taught by Christine Springett in February 2005. The hours
are
10 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday and from 9:30 to 430 on Sunday

I too have the Luxton-Fukuyama book and was lucky enough to meet Yusai when
he and his then partner (Mr Saikoh Takana) were in England many years ago to
study lace with Elsie Luxton. The book says that the samples were made by
Saikoh and therefore not Yusai's wife. Both Yusai and

Many years ago I demonstrated lace at a Craft Fair in my hometown -
Definitely dirty, so open at your own risk; I'm not sending it to any
of my grandchildren, that's for sure :) Move the mouse around, and see
what's hidden (if you have nothing better to do, that is)...
