Hi, everyone
I've had 20 entries for the raffle so far - still plenty of time for anyone
who still wants to enter.
Just to clarify, yes I will post to anywhere in the world (anywhere with a

Hi, Tanya
Assuming it's the Brok 36/2 your pattern calls for, Bockens 100/2 is slightly
thicker and Bockens 120/2 is slightly finer - try either/both and see if it
looks right.
Bockens 100/2 is exactly the same thickness as Brok 36/3, but I think that's
less likely to be the one stated in

Sorry, I looked up Bouc linen, not Bockens!
As Beth says
Brok 36/3 is the same thickness as Bockens 100/2, Brok 36/2 is between
Bockens 100/2 and 120/2.

Hi Sue,
I've made lots of garters and always work on 27 inches as a good length,
working to the nearest pattern repeat. I've done one sided and two sided
garters, depending on the amount of time available, but concentrated on one
sided since I heard that two sided were tarts' garters! The

Hi Jenny,
I'm going to chime in and say that in my SCA Kingdom, an end of period
date of 1650 is acceptable, so this lace would qualify as period for
me. Regardless, I'm very grateful for the article and the working pattern!
Thank you!

The SCA is supposed to go to 1600, however a lot of people will accept
things through 1650, especially if there is any indication that the
information in the book or the object was not brand new.
