I've received a few e-mails from people who'd like to be included in the
postcard exchange.
If you wish to participate I will of course need your address!!.
Last year some people (including me) found postcards with lace on them,
some clever lacemakers even made their own postcards. But
Hello all,
As a Spanish lacer, I can say that the pillow of the postcard is like our
vertical pillows. The bobbins are the traditional Catalonian boxwood bobbins
used all over Spain. And even the pattern is a traditional model made in
Camariñas and Almagro, a mixture of torchon and guipur.

For those new to the list, last year I organized an exchange of
postcards among fellow lacemakers to make the summer months a little
more interesting for those unable to travel (like me) those who were
travelling to conventions other places.
Last year there were 48 participants, so I
Hi all,
To answer Lorelei's concerns re- large lace table cloth draped over the
table;- I always roll the loose lace carefully and cover with a clean cloth
(cover-cloth or even teacloth) or non-acidic plastic.
Happy lace making.

I have just received a telephone call from Jeri, who it seems is doing
some research for various Arachnids. Her computer has betrayed her
and it is off to the repair man. She doesn't know when it will be
back, considering that over the Memorial Day weekend things may not be
ready as soon
I have seen that picture. It's lovely.
One of my concerns with making separate strips to connect later would be
consistency in length of strips. Of course, some easing can be done to adjust
small differences, but the cloth would be smoother if matched pinhole to
pinhole. For a solid
I appreciate the thoughts I have received so far on this project. I'm going to
start a smaller version to test the construction techniques. Hum?? - is 25 x
20 really a small version? but would it look lovely on my dining room table
in case I never tackle the full size one. :-)
The steps I
Is it feasible to make one strip the right length, count the pinholes, and make
sure you have the same number of pinholes in both sewing edges, and for all the
strips? Also, obviously, that you're using the same spacing, or number of
pinholes per inch in the pricking, and, preferably the same
My copy of Doris Southard's book is in the other room, and I'm too lazy in this
heat to get up to get it, but I only remember strips. Not the breadboard
effect of a strip across the top. Everything gets a lot easier if you only
connect the strips along the side edges. Those top and bottom
The instructions I have for this tablecloth say to work the first strip
as long as you need, and then take it off the pillow. Work the second
strip until it is *nearly* as long as you need, and then carefully join
at the pinholes of the two strips. You will then work the second strip

After spending hours leafing through my book shelves, I still cannot find

I have the best DH in the world. Although that could be subject to debate.
He was online and called my attention to this article on AOL.

Hi,
After seeing the crochet table runner that was on the forum the other day. I
got curious on the style. I believe that it is in the Hungarian crochet style.
Is there any pattern books available?

I was planning on all the patterns being the same spacing and I have a pound of
40/2 linen that I really hope I like for lace so the dyelot should be covered.
Thanks for the reminders, these are things that would make or break this
project.
I'm amazed at the difference in dyelots for the
