Hi I agree I don't want any of my lace or anything in the coffin, it would be a waste and maybe, in the future, someone will look at it with the fondness we look at old lace now. Maureen E Yorks UK (where it is a lovely sunny morning.) - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com

I think a lot depends upon whether you decide to be buried or cremated. If buried, lace in your coffin - especially if it is wire lace - could tell a future archaeologist that you were a lacemaker... or leave them puzzling, just as the sprang found in the Egyptian tombs has! In message

Lace in a coffin! I agree I don't want any of my lace or anything in the coffin, it would be a waste and maybe, in the future, someone will look at it with the fondness we look at old lace now. I wish to be cremated and would be very upset if all the love I had put into making my lace

I also feel it would be a terrible waste and more likely to end up being lost forever not seen by an archiologist. But I am about to make some lace for today for me to wear in the form of a scarf and am wracking my brain to remember the name of the type of coloured lace I am thinking I might

Liz I think that you are going to have to leave any not 'good pieces' in an envelope or something. I rather suspect that, unless they are lacemakers themselves, they may not know which is good and which is not. Maureen E Yorks - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com

Hi Lacemakers, Don't leave any of your lace pieces in Wal-Mart or Jewel shopping bags either. My girl friend lost about 40 Santa quilted ornaments because they were in a Wal-Mart bag. They even had little bells on them so they had to make a bit of noise ...but they are still missing and so we

I am glad to hear that we all agree not to destroy our hartfeld work. My suggestion is to make it well know to the loved ones who would be making our arrangements this. This sounds very morbid but I had a family member write out in detail what they want and did not want at there wake and

It appears that the work of our talented wire-lace artists has influenced the commercial jewelry designers! I just ran across a lovely (and expensive) lace necklace with diamonds on eBay. See item # 120734562731. If everyone wants to chip in a dollar and buy it for me, I'd wear it!! LOL

I must state the minority opinion. While I wouldn’t want all my lace in my coffin, and nothing if I’m to be cremated, if it’s a standard coffin, then I want a piece of lace with me. Just one. A lace hankie. My lace is my friend, like my sweaters and the handmade clothes. I don’t want

Hi Susan,   we use a chalice veil in the Anglican church in much the same way as the Catholic church. The veil is covered by a burse, which is a firm square piece of nowadays card about 15cm square that is covered to match and hinged to make two thicknesses. In the church service/mass, the chalice
