Hello all,
1. There is an intimation in Whiting that the bobbins of East Devon
(Honiton bobbins) were all decorated in "Workshops" dedicated to that
function.
2. Theses could possibly be associated with lace dealers or shops
dealing in lace making needs; but not necessarily so.
I would have enjoyed hearing the conversation between you two! Did she teach
you any new lace moves?

I greatly enjoyed seeing your blog. Especially the close up photos, and the
comparison photos between the different styles of tape lace.

I must tell someone about this. I had a visit this afternoon from the
tiniest spider I've ever seen--her body is the size of the head of a lace
pin (not a glass-headed pin but a regular lace pin), She walked all over
the lace I was working on, climbing up individual pins and weaving through

Hi Nathalie
When I was there a few years ago now, there was one single item of lace on
display and no catalogue to buy with anything further unfortunately.

Dear Gon,
Thank you! Hope to see you too!
Your project "Every week an ending or insertion" is also one of sources for
inspiration!
Dear Joepie,
I understand that one month and one lace piece is not enough to master the
technique. But it really helps to structure
I needed to make a bunch of large pillows for a workshop just a few months
ago. I went to a local store that sells hot tubs. Every hot tub is shipped
with a Styrofoam cover on top. I was able to get the foam for free because it
was just destined for the dump. If you choose this route, be aware
I really like that idea! I never would have thought of it. My mom used to use
strong thread to cut cheese, especially Velveeta.

Hi
I was there in June, there was one piece of reticella in a display case and I
think one other piece. No catalogue that I saw but we were on an organised
trip. Well worth the visit though.

Without blaming or shaming anyone for the incompatible Belgian laws and
OIDFA regulations, or whatever more contributed to the problems, reading the
interview "canceled" was a wrong subject line in my opinion. The content of
the message may explain more, but the first blow is half the battle. Some
I seem to remember that there was quite a bit of lace on display in the
ethnographic museum. Can anyone confirm this? It is a few years since I was
there!

Second reply - I meant to include that when I have finished cutting my
pillows, there is a strip of foam left over. I have used these pieces to
make several block pillows.
Try not to waste anything and only the shavings go into the garbage/land

Hello Nathalie,
We visited the Hermitage Museum 3 years ago and I only saw one piece of lace,
and that was a simple Torchon edging to a cover of some description.
Unfortunately I don't read or speak Russian so I can't say what it was for.
The museum is vast and very busy. We were on a guided
Hello everyone,
A dear friend of mine is visiting Russia. She wondered if there's lace
on display in the Hermitage. If so, is there also a catalogue?
Thank you!

Hi Olga,
A mammoth project and I admire you for it. However, do you think you are doing
enough of each project to learn the techniques of each type thoroughly or are
you trying out the techniques in order to specialize a little more later on?
You are obviously an accomplished lacemaker already.
When I make my pillows I have always Dental floss or dental tape , It works
well.
Cut a length and use like a saw.

Dear Arachnids,
I was silent reader of this community for quite a long time but I finally
decided to introduce myself and share my project.
My name is Olga and I am making lace for 7 years now. Initially I studied
Russian lacemaking and work on a bolster pillow. But lace world is much
bigger.

I have purchased the foam pillows at the last two conventions then cut them
down so I could hand carry the section with the lace, pricking and bobbins.
Last month, I used a straight edge to score the foam and then used a
serrated knife to cut the foam. Â It fit perfectly into my block pillow at
