Yes, hackle pliers. Another useful tool is reverse forceps. Squeezing them
opens the jaws, they are clamped shut by default, so to speak.

Your discussion about Instagram was very interesting, and I was almost ready
to join up and start using them. Until you said they are owned by facebook.
Perhaps I will join and see how it works, cautiously.
However with search engines and hashtags -- I deliberately set up the

The facebook page I set up for needle lace has as its sole purpose to direct
people to the ning site, where all the action occurs. I belong to nearly 20
facebook lace sites of various kinds. So I am familiar with how it works. I
deliberately chose not to use facebook for my own network
This is another reminder - of many sent over the years.
We have just received a most interesting and valuable 3/30/18 post from Amy of

Hi All,
There has been a lot of great discussion following the "Lace, Not Lace"
exhibit that Devon Thein is working on regarding how to connect with
younger generations, plus the discussion of groups on Facebook and other
platforms like Ning.
Groups, websites, blogs, etc. are really great, but
Another useful tip I collected a while ago from Arachne was to purchase a fly
tying tool from the fishing shop for a few pennies , it grips the broken

Marianne, you are welcome here; all of us are. It is easy to forget to
trim, and I got a reminder, too! Try digest mode for a while and it will
become clearer to you why it matters.

I apologise to all for not trimming my posts and yes I got a gentle reminder
too. I don't mind the reminder, I just didn't think, sorry. I didn't take
it as not being welcome. For those people on the digest it can be a bit of
a nightmare scrolling through the same message time and time again
Wonderful teacher and lacemaker. A personal friend whom I have known since the
very early 80's when teaching for Susan Cox at The English Lace School.
Annette I have known more recently and a beautiful lacemaker too.
