I think that modern makers of lace makers lamps do a good job as most follow a
basic design that was published in a Woodwork magazine many years ago. They
combine the candle and the flask in one utility, which to me is a great idea.

I have only ever seen one "Historical/Antique" that has these two features
combined and that was a Northern France one I do believe.

I have recently discovered a picture of a "Flask Stand" (A Bedford historical
site, I think I Googled Lace Lamps on Google images to find it)) This is the
first time I have seen a free standing "table top" flask stand that is English
in origin. It is just like a candle stick but has a hole in the top for the
flask to be inserted.

The closest I have got to such an arrangement is the picture of William Linger
in Diana Smiths booklet "East Midlands Lace makers in Old photographs"
(Privately published)

I would love to see Johns lace lamps but have not managed to find a URL to his
web site. Can you help please?
