I've just come across a book on ebay that I haven't seen before. It is "A Manual of Lace" by Jeanette E. Petherbridge, Cassell,1947, 71 pages.

I've never hear Ms. Petherbridge mentioned before... Has anyone else ever heard of the book?
Have never heard of the book, but Cassell is, probably, my favourite publisher of all kinds of dictionaries and compendia (as well as superb textbooks for teaching languages); I don't think I've ever seen a Cassell-published book that I didn't find interesting.
The book itself... Given the date and the scope, my guess would be that it was aimed at people who collected laces rather than lacemakers, as a sort of guidebook. It would be interesting to find out what the recommended methods of conservation and care were at the time :)
