I perused this booklet by Osma Galliger Tod Monday when Norma came for lacemaking Monday. We had a chuckle about the author's saying that bobbin lace was a very inexpensive hobby. We decided the booklet MUST be VERY old! Happy Lacemaking, Betty Ann in Roanoke, Virginia USA May 25, 2009 11:32:52

Hello Norma, and everyone Osma Gallinger Tod was a weaver, basket maker, student of textiles extraordinaire. She wrote many articles, books and pamphlets. I did not know that she investigated bobbin lace, but evidently did, by the article you have. It would be typical of her to do so ;) Visit

Thanks to all for your help and information.  It seems that the 1970 p. 16 ad for THE BELGIAN WAY OF MAKING BOBBIN LACE by Osma Gallinger Tod is selling for $2.25 which should mean that my copy is older as the price (in my copy) is listed at $1.50.  A very interesting addition to my lace book
